Stanford has a very small media presence. They do offer a big media market and a rivalry with Notre Dame, though, both of which the Big Ten craves. They also have a ton of money. I have heard that Northwestern will do everything in their power, though, to keep Stanford out, unless Notre Dame comes, as well. Oklahoma and Texas wanted to keep what they brought in or at least part of what they brought in. We demanded an even split and would not negotiate. Oklahoma and Texas laughed at that and proceeded to print money, because we are idiots. No, were not idiots. We did exactly what we should have done. Res ipsa loquitur. The fact that UCLA and USC left the Big Ten disproves your assertion. The Pac-12 did something that hurt Oregon State at the time and especially hurt USC. And took further actions that undermined the financial success and, in particular, USC's success to do something that probably also undermined Oregon State's success. Idiots make bad choices and decisions. Idiots sell out the long term for the short. We may not be idiots, but our leadership sure as hell was.

I "kinda/sorta/begrudgingly" understand UT not buying OSU as an " equal," therefore NOT wanting to share EQUALLY with her. They would've brought ONEHELLUVALOT more to the revenue table. Oh well. C'est la vie.

Stanford with their two fans were still getting more than $7 million per year. Under the new contract, they would probably be getting at least $28 million. Ridiculous. Instead of making it fair, you make the money that you earn, like the Big 12, they decided to evenly distribute. If you make more money than the Big Ten and SEC that works, but the Pac-12 did not. The have nots that set up rules that jobbed UCLA and USC, just using UCLA and USC as money piñatas cannot be upset when they leave. Also, worst case scenario, taking $6 million less per year over the past decade is going to be a drop in the bucket to what I believe that we are going to finish down without the Los Angeles schools, unless we do something drastic. Also also, Oklahoma and Texas are both members of the Pac-14+, if we had agreed to keep-what-you-kill from the get-go. And all of this is not a thing. Stanford, despite the air crappy fan presence, still has a lot more media pull than we do. And please explain when Texas and Oklahoma joined the PAC. Oh yea, it didn’t happen because they wanted a disproportionate amount of $$. They would not have agreed to join our network, so you would have not seen any benefit from adding them. Perhaps because their grads own the media?

That was fast. Maybe you should proofread your crap before you post it.

Should have taken Texas/Oklahoma and then tried to swallow the ACC. Only path it seems to have competed TV contract-wise with Big 10 and SEC. Oregon is interesting piece in all of this. Once Knight passes away they will turn back into a mid-tier program. He really propped up their program single-handily. Does endowment have one "n" or two....
