A record setting year for Santiam Christian HS shortstop, Ely Kennell. Ely led SCHS to a 23-9 record and deep into the Oregon Class 3A playoffs. They defeated Lincoln City-Taft HS 3-1, Brookings-Harbor HS 8-1, Salem-Blanchet Catcholic HS 5-4 (9 innings), before losing the state final to Myrtle Creek-South Umpqua HS, 10-2.
Ely was a unanimous All Special District 3 selection and First Team All State Oregon 3A selection as well as being the 3A POY.
Kennell's record setting year at the plate produced some euphoric numbers.
31 games: PA: 123, AB: 47-87, 47 Runs, 40 RBI, 11 Doubles, 5 Triples, 10 Home Runs, 35 BB + 5 HBP, 10 K, and 28 SB.
His Slash was .540/ .667/ .1091 and 1759 OPS
Fielding, Ely had 118 chances, 51 PO, 55 Asst. turned 14 DP and made 12 errors. Fielding % was .898 .
6', 175 with emerginging LH power. Strong arm and 6.8 speed. Anyone else smelling outfield here?
