I was curious how many kids on the baseball team are benefiting from this. I know other schools are raising millions of dollars to generate income for their athletes. Usually football and mens basketball players are the main recipient’s. Is this going to hinder us in the future if we can’t provide NIL money for players?

A very interesting question. We’ve all known, for various situations, that the young man should take the money and go pro. NIL could change that equation. A game-changer player could be convinced to stay and help his team attempt to win a championship with enough NIL money. Much sadder would be to see a player opt out of the draft and enter the transfer portal for such an opportunity. While college baseball does not generate the $ to justify big $ to keep a player, it just takes a booster who owns a private company who wants badly to see their baseball team win, to keep a player in college. It’s a matter of time unless, and until, there are some guardrails put in place on NIL.

Tommy White from NC State might be one of the first college baseball players taking advantage of this. NIL money is rumored to be behind him being in the portal.

A high school football player reportedly signed a NIL agreement that could be worth up to $8mil. The Portal is full of items for sale. Get your collective together and buy a team.

Baseball is one of the sports that could be most effected by NIL. A good NIL program is an easy way around the scholarship limit for baseball. Easy way to enhance getting guys around the margins.
