What year will she arrive? Transfer? GO BEAVS! Edited the title because I realize a lot of people aren’t quite as familiar with her, but she’s a 2023 recruit from Sam Barlow HS. Good soccer player as well. She’s definitely an under-the-radar recruit. Not sure she’ll ever be a huge impact player, but I’ve seen many tweets that indicate she has a high level work ethic and will bring toughness to OSU. She plays for NW Select with Ava Heiden and Jazzy Davidson.

beaverwbb fan - -I think you pretty much called this one in your June 16 post.....
I guess you could categorize Shuler as not a great recruiting catch, but maybe one of those all too rare under the radar deals that actually pans out...Let's hope so.
Going back to your earlier posts - -does Shuler's commitment pretty much mean we're out of the running for Kitts - the star guard everyone everywhere is chasing? GO BEAVS!!

Going back to your earlier posts - -does Shuler's commitment pretty much mean we're out of the running for Kitts - the star guard everyone everywhere is chasing? GO BEAVS!! Whether or not any coaches are currently in Argentina (where Kitts is currently playing for the U18 team) would probably be the best indicator in regards to where OSU stands with Kitts. I see Kitts as more of a 3/4 than a 2/3 - definitely more of a wing/small forward than a guard. Needs to add muscle, but she shows flashes of physicality down low and is also really good off the bounce. I think Shuler is more of a combo-guard. I think it will be tricky to get Kitts out of that southeast region with the Florida/Georgia/Kentucky schools. Soltau has a similar game to Kitts and would also be a solid addition for 2023.

I hope Shuler can be a lock down defender. A player we have had in the past and can always use one on the team. I like the idea of her bringing some mental toughness too!💪

I appreciate the contributions you make to the forum beaverwbb fan...... You are certainly more attuned to prospective players and to OSU WBB recruiting than just about anyone I can think of......
At any rate, I'll now do a check on Soltau to see what else I can learn..... GO BEAVS!!

I know it’s a highlight video, but it looks like a high basketball IQ - Intelligence about spacing and movement… always useful tools. Welcome Kennedie! Also, I hope we don’t really have to wait until 2033 for her arrival.

I posted this in May when Kennedie Shuler was first mentioned and someone asked if anyone had seen her play:
"I saw Kennedie Shuler of Barlow (class of 2023) at the 6A Girls tourney in March in a 52-36 win over a good Jesuit team. She did not look like a Div I player to me, although quite a hustler and decent defender, but I have been wrong before and she is only a junior. (I've been going to the state tourney for 40 years or so and have seen all the great ones: Cindy Brown, Lindsey Yamasaki, Laurie Milligan, Liz Brenner, Cameron Brink, etc.) She scored 11p (3-8FG, 1-3 on 3's, 4-6FT), 1 Reb, 2 Assists, 2 TOs and 1 block. Her season averages were more impressive: 17pts. /7 Reb/4.6Assists/3.7 steals. In 3 games in the tournament, she averaged 12 pts. on 31% FG, 38% on 3's (8-21), 6-10 FTs, and had 13 rebounds, 7 assists, and 13 TOs. Not Donovyn Hunter numbers. (Her team did beat Hunter's team by 2; Hunter had 24 and 11 rebs, while Shuler had 12 pts., 9 rebs and 4 assists). As mentioned above, she was 6A 2nd Team all-tourney and 2nd team all-state. Sorry for all the annoying stats. My 2 cents."

Kat Tudor probably wasn’t a D1 player either when she signed

Kat Tudor probably wasn’t a D1 player either when she signed There really was no question about Tudor's ability to compete at the D1 level for anyone who saw her play EYBL for the Cal Stars Nike Elite squad that won the national title with Ionescu in 2015 or during her final two years at St. Mary's HS. Tudor was an elite shooter as a teen and those who saw her play instantly knew how she would be able to stretch the floor with her shooting ability at the next level.

I'm glad to see us recruiting, and getting, players from the northwest and, specifically, Oregon. I note that, of the 4 undergrad starters on last year's team, the one who didn't quit was from Washington. Greta, from Illinois, went to Michigan (fairly close} and Taylor from Texas went to Texas. Last year, Sasha from Arkansas went to Arkansas.
I'm certainly not advocating that we stop recruiting nationally by any means. I'm just saying my flame of enthusiasm will be rekindled only if we bring in players who I believe will actually be here for 4 years.

And how will you have the slightest idea about who will stay for 4 years until they've actually done it?
If you've got that one figured out, about 200 college coaches will want to have a chat with you...Soon. GO BEAVS!!

If you've got that one figured out, about 200 college coaches will want to have a chat with you...Soon. GO BEAVS!! The key word in that statement is 'believe'. I believe Talia and AJ will be here for 3 more years. I want to believe the 4 coming in now will as well. That will be enough to get me to buy season tickets again this year. If all 6 of them are still here a year from today, my flame will be rekindled that much more. If not, I'll probably just give up on it.
