I must have watched all, or parts of, at least a dozen Notre Dame baseball games during this past season. For most of that time, ND was solid, but hardly great. IMO, we would have taken 6-7/10 games from the Irish during most of the season.
But now ND has suddenly become white hot and looks like world-beaters...down goes #1 UTenn, down goes Texas in CWS game #1....so yeah, we can argue about good vs poor coaching decisions at particular parts of crucial games. But teams like ND make you wonder just how frequently managerial genius vs. pure luck and happenstance have to do with the way baseball seasons play out.
Finally, I believe that most of ND's position players and at least their best pitcher have already graduated...a bunch of mature players who've "been there" does help I guess...

Experience definitely helps. Yesterday's starting pitcher for ND is 26 years old. Has 1 regular degree and 2 masters degrees. Oh and already has 3 kids. He's got all kinds of experience!

They aren't great at anything really but they are solid at all parts of the game and all positions. Its a recipe for consistency which most definitely can win the post season.

I've got a friend who has a kid on the Notre Dame team and he told me all that. Maybe he's wrong? I didn't fact check just took him at his word. Not a big deal either way I guess

Notre Dame is now out. Joining Texas and Stanford. Go Auburn. Go A and M. And we felt bad getting squeezed out by a seeded team (feel bad still), but the Vols getting toasted by a non-seed - serves them right for being overconfident arses; I never felt overconfident with Auburn.

Notre Dame is now out. Joining Texas and Stanford. Go Auburn. Go A and M. Go Ole Miss, as well. Basically, anyone but Arkansas and Oklahoma, and I will call it a win.
