FOUR of the eight teams in Omaha are SEC (west) teams. TWO others (TEX AND OU) will be joining them in a couple years. The SEC conference is powerful. WHY does that upset folks? Honestly.

Hating (being envious/jealous of) the SEC seems particularly schmuckish (as in uOFo) to me.

I just know that except for decent college-level sports, I couldn't name a single reason to live in SEC territory. Poor bastards. Let them have their baseball excitement. They have little else.

I have been to nearly every state in the US...spent time all over the country. The south is the f%#*ing worst hellhole I've ever been to. I'd move Tijuana before I'd ever consider living in SEC country. With that said..I don't hate the SEC...maybe the fans suck. But they are just kids playing sports st elite schools...that maybe bend the rules. But hey, so does hole and USC.

Or Sanibel Island in Florida. All tdhree places in SEC country. Otherwise, the deep south sucks.

"The south.....is the worst....." is quite a generalization - big area with a lot of different and great places. The fans there are in to it, certainly, but no worse than many others around the country (at least where they seem to care about college sports).

Nebraska was one. Couldn't wait to get out. Otherwise, most places have their charm. But when it comes right down to it, I wouldn't want to leave the Pacific Northwest for anything. Great way of life. Great people. Laid back attitude. Great natural beauty all around. What more could you want, except a little more sunshine. LOL And speaking of weather, the Southeast has weather problems that I can do without. Humidity. Nope. Hurricanes. Nope. No real winter. No thank you.

Florida south of Gainesville is great. There is some great brutalist architecture in Downtown Atlanta (as seen in that Loki show). Outside of that, I was very unimpressed with Atlanta. New Orleans is great in parts (and very terrible in others). I have had fun in Austin and San Antonio, but I have been very unimpressed with the rest of Texas outside of the Austin-San Antonio area. Virginia within 20 miles of the Beltway is great. I have heard terrible things about Western Virginia. Arkansas is naturally beautiful, but little else is there. The part of Charlotte that I went to was nice. The main drag in Nashville is great, but it gets dicey very fast. The Cumberland is pretty. I have not been to much of the rest, but it has its high points and low points, like pretty much everywhere else that I have been. Personally, the worst place that I have ever been in the United States is Inglewood. I have never heard so many gunshots echoing in my life. And Zuma Beach in Malibu was one of the greatest places that I have ever been. Manhattan, Huntington, and Newport Beach are also great. Everywhere is very hit-and-miss. Comparing the South to TJ makes me wonder, where you have been in the South worse than TJ? I don't remember ever being anywhere worse than TJ in the South.

Got our lives threatened in Biloxi for looking like "northerners" which was funny since we lived in "southern" CA. Had another run in at a waffle house in Auburn. Went to Nashville a few years back with some old Beaver football players..that was eye opening and actually kinda shocking. ATL, Orlando, Tampa, Virginia cities, Dallas and most of Texas. Have no desire whatsoever to go back. I did quite enjoy Charlston and New Orleans...and would go to the places you mentioned. I know it's a one bad apple thing...or maybe a dozen bad apples. There are good people everywhere. I just don't care to be around that element of intolerance and ignorance that seems to prevail in much of the south.

Speaking of bad places . . . . the worst spot I've ever seen is Trona, CA. My sister had gotten a post-bacc in education at Cal Poly Pomona and she took a job at Trona HS (home of the Tornadoes). She and her then-husband moved to Ridgecrest because he had a job at China Lake Naval Air Weapons Station. Ridgecrest is plenty bad but Trona was beyond belief. They mine borax there and the dust precludes anything from growing. Even if you had water, the dust would suffocate it. So, I've never been to Indianola, MS, but I think I'd take that in a heartbeat over Trona.

Been to Starkville and the hospitality was off the chart. Could never live there cause of heat and humidity. Can’t imagine why anyone would want to live amongst humidity, hurricanes and just pure bad weather. Fans from Auburn were totally jealous of mid 60’s and a little rain!
