Predictable. Hasn't he played SS at SCHS ? The scouting reports I've seen all project him in the infield. I don't think he's beating out any of our current infielders.

Ely, like most OSU freshman will spend time learning his craft and making the adjustment to college baseball. If he competes well, he'll see some parceled PT like Jabin Trosky did this year.
If this comes to pass, those outfield positions could be a little hard to come by as vwell.
Macias - Reed - Turley.

Ely played 2b last night for the Knights, and Parker mentioned that the middle infield is more of a natural position at this point in his career. He did play RF for the Knights previous, and he had an issue with communication since it is a new position for him. Mike also mentioned how strong his bat is and that imo is where he can probably help the beavs the most early in his career.

If Ely can hit college pitching maybe DH will be a position he can fill for the Beavs. If he improves his outfield play that will give him more chances to get playing time. Our regular 2nd baseman got some outfield time during the Pac-12 tourney.

Remember the ridiculous post not long ago that someone's nephew or his coach or some other joker said Ely was weak at the plate. And now he's killing it against mostly players older than him.

A 415-foot shot, according to the Knights website. corvallisknights.com/knights-bash-three-homers-even-series-with-bellingham-8-4/From the games I have seen this year, Sean Wiese, a George Fox lefty, would have been a good addition to our staff. He'll be a grad transfer at Hawaii next season. Lots of strikeouts, no walks.

Nelson had an opportunity to make an immediate impact next year as either a reliever or possibly a weekend starter. I’m very excited to see him develop the next few years.

Ty Doucette - 1B ‘23 recruit. Was shockingly left off the roster for Canada at the 2022 WBSC world championship. They just finished round robin at 1-4 & will play in relegation pool. Big bat missing & a gold glove first baseman.
He decided to play home in Nova Scotia this summer- played in 2 National Championships- 22U & 22+ divisions. As an 18 yr old - He played well@ led his 22u team to a silver - #2 team in Canada. At The men’s 22+ tournament , playing against & many current & former D1 players - & many former pro players , Ty went on a tear as the youngest by far player there - finishing with .471 to lead all teams in hitting - &. Game winning HR in semi finals. Unfortunately, they came up short as well & another silver medal as # 2 team in Canada at that division.
He was invited to Toronto Blue Jays Showcase event Sept 20 -24 as one on top players in Canada not yet in college. Ty will head to TNXL Academy in Florida to train for the winter at a very strong program. For the summer of ‘23 - he already has a few offers to play in the West Coast League- however he’ll wait until his fall visit to OSU before making any commitments long term

A travesty but baseball Canada tends to ignore Alberta and Nova Scotia doesn't fare any better. Ty is a left handed hitter with a fast bat and enormous power. Played at Okotoks last year, home to Nova Scotia this year. If you watch his film it will bring Mike Conforto to mind.
This year's All Canada team was about an 80% Ontario representation.
Ty will make his mark in the bright lights of the elite Oregon State program.
