The Auburn starter tomorrow will be Mason Barnett. He's a right hander that started the year in the bullpen, so he's not used to throwing 90+ pitches. His last outing in the regional was against UCLA where he pitched very well.( 5 innings, 1 hit, 0 runs, 3 walks, 10 strike outs) I think we'll win tomorrow no matter who they throw. Game before UCLA, Kentucky sorta blew him up. His 3 games in May (all were SEC), he pitched 13 innings: 15 Hits - 7 BB - 14 SO. Decent, but UCLA was definitely his best start of the season He was at home and felt good. He'll be on a different mound in a different environment, tomorrow. I like our chances.

Mason Barnett was the only player from last year's rotation to return this year. Auburn is very good about not throwing pitchers too much, so they had Barnett in the bullpen in February in the who-gives-a-rat's-behind games to start the year. Barnett was the starter for most of March before being demoted to midweek starter. He stayed there for six weeks before Auburn's ace went down, and he returned to being the Sunday guy. Barnett is a guy who was being talked about a lot before the season started before being passed up by Bright and Gonzalez. Barnett has only thrown more than 90 pitches once, and that was last year. On this staff, Barnett is a wily veteran, who may have hit his ceiling. But it is by no means a low ceiling. Oregon State 12 - Auburn 4 The Beaver bats come to life and Kmatz brings his A-game to give Oregon State some momentum into the game with Mississippi.

HR his first AB and 0-7 since Guy still worries me. Let's hope his numbers are still lousy after tomorrow, then I'll be joining right in with the taunting... No need to taunt. He seems like a genuinely nice kid, he talks to all our baserunners, and they seem to share some laughs. Auburn players pretty much seem no nonsense and no showboating. The fans I've met have been very nice.

A job well done so far by our pitchers to be sure, but I'm not counting any chickens until he goes 1 for 12 after tomorrow...

Last weekend, ESPN were calling the two guys from Samford (?) Auburn's Free Agents. Both out of the Portal.

Need to be patient and wear him down. Maybe Boyd can go 3 straight games going double digits in the lead off pc

I was genuinely surprised that the kid has gone 1-8 against Beaver pitching, and that includes Carpenter, Townsend, and Verburg. I wanted the post to be seen as a comment on SEC pitching. But as Nuke pointed out, perhaps the strike zone is unfairly small in the SEC to keep the game more power-oriented.

Guy still worries me. Let's hope his numbers are still lousy after tomorrow, then I'll be joining right in with the taunting... He worries me as well. That "big hoss" waits on a ball a long time & keeps his hands back. He had a hard time with Hjerpe & Ferrer tonight....... but who doesn't have a hard time, when those two are bringing their A game. I think that was only the second game all year that he did not reach base.

Their message board talked about Tennessee saying classless. Seem to like baseball played the right way.
