Do we not have a righty at all that can hit there instead? We left all of our bullets in the gun. No substitutes at all? I don't think that Mitchy Slick gave up on the mound, but I don't understand not making a single substitute, when the lefty pitchers were eating up the lefty hitters.

I was more frustrated with Gretler. I know Duke and Gret have had some good hitting recently, but some of Gret's at bats were disappointing. Still, maybe they'll bring it tonight. They certainly have the ability. Consistency is what we need.

Well, Dukart already had gotten a hit off a lefty earlier. Who should we put out there? Trosky, Guerra, and Smith have all hit below .200 the last month and half.

If he could cut down the swing a little and become a gap to gap guy I think maybe he would be more effective. Need some production for the bottom of the lineup tonight

You play with what you have. The Beavers have 5 or 6 guys that are not capable of hitting D1 pitching consistently. Mitch inherited some players that are not very good hitters and is making do with what he has. Baseball America in two writeups on OSU noted there are "big holes in the batting order". If 9 of your 27 outs are considered "easy outs", you are bound to be inconsistent, offensively from game to game.

Imho, Jabin has not had consistent enough ABs to judge, but as a switch hitter batting just under .300 most of the season, I sure like his chances better than the 2 right-side batters. Also might have the best range at SS, which would offset a little weaker arm.

I agree about Gretler. He has been injured but he does swing from his ass. Trying to kill every Pitch. Sure would like to see him and Dern just trying to make contact and hitting the ball somewhere!

I think Dernedde has shown that he can do this. I remember a couple of his beautiful hits in the Pac 12 series required fine defensive play to reel in and should've been a base hit. Gret seems to go for broke. Power the ball for a hr or an extra base hit. Or strikeout. I love the kid, but want him to aim for the single that will keep the inning alive.
