What are you guys seeing?
To me they look like a club that hits well but lacks quality pitching. Just looking through their schedule they really struggled in conference against teams with solid pitching. For instance they had a series loss and conference tourney loss to UK who has some good pitching and very weak hitting. Looks like a live by the bat die by the bat kind of team.
I think we match up well with our strong pitching and their bad pitching.

I watched them a little bit since I'm down in Texas. You pretty much nailed it. They can hit like crazy, but I wasn't overly impressed with their pitching. That said, never overlook an opponent. They were a #14 seed overall and hosted a regional. You don't get that by accident. I know a lot of experts were thinking Florida St was going to win that regional and be a dark-horse for the CWS.

They have an absolute monster in Sonny DiChiara at 6'1" and 263 pounds, who's hit 20 HRs with a 1.369 OPS. Both teams have similar SOS, and OSU has averaged 7.6 runs for/4.5 runs against while Auburn has 7.3 runs for/5.1 runs against. I would guess we're somewhere in the 60% chance of advancing based on home field advantage and fielding the better team.

DiChiara's numbers are better than ARutschman's. He is a grad transfer from Samford (Southern Conference). He had good numbers at Samford but nothing like he has hit this year. So it's a mystery. I'm sure the pitching is not better in the Southern than the SEC.

Not sure I learned much about Auburn due to UCLA's pitching being so subpar (their 4th game of weekend). Walks and HBP's galore, something like 12 in total. .

Check out their game against Florida St. IIRC they benefited by receiving 15 walks. The little bit I watched of Auburn, they seem solid, but the sample size was to small to really "get a feel."

Many similar Team Stats to the Beavs. Beginning with overall Strength of Schedule (Auburn 14th...OSU 18th).
Auburn (RPI 8; 15-13 against Q1, Beavs (RPI 2; 13-10 vs. Q1).
A few that differ a bit:
Auburn received 290 BB, OSU walked 376 times
Auburn 47 for 60 on SB, OSU at 82 for 97.
Team WHIP: Auburn 1.41, OSU 1.26
The only 2 Supers that have opposing top 8 RPI Teams are Corvallis & Knoxville.

As with most SEC teams, Auburn has travelled very little this season. Coming out West will be a whole new experience. They played 41 of their 59 games in the state of Alabama, including 18 straight games in Alabama at one point. A couple road trips into TX, and one-off trips to TN, MS, KY, and LA. They may be used to large crowds, but Goss can get 'em.

Idk the exact numbers but if you look at Sonny conference only he’s batting like 3.25 and his OPS comes back down to earth. He definitely killed against lower tier pitchers. He’s a good hitter but isn’t actually the best hitter on the team if you look at conference results. Kinda wild. Jones might be the scariest hitter we dee n the regional and SR
