Should we be sacrificing with a runner on 1st and no outs or with a runner on 2nd and less than two outs? I realize it depends on the situation of score and whose batting, but it seems to me we are giving up a lot of runs by not sacrificing.

Luckily we have hit so many weak ground balls that we have been moving guys up. Just havent been getting the big hit to drive them in.

What I want to know is when they have the shift on with the 3rd baseman playing at the shortstop position why aren't we just tapping the ball towards 3rd base? Seems like an easy way to get on base even for Melton!
I suppose it is harder to do than I am imaging?

What we REALLY need is for someone beside Forrester to come up with some clutch hits. And what the heck is wrong with Melton??? Sheeesh....

In general, I don’t like the sacrifice play, especially whenever it’s done twice to move a guy up to 3rd. I don’t like intentionally getting outs and giving you fewer chances to drive in runs. Exceptions to this are in a tight game in the later innings where you just need an insurance run. Obviously there are lineup considerations and how the bats are doing vs. the opposing pitcher, his pitch count, etc. One thing that is good though is at least you avoid the double play ball. 🤷🏼♂️ But I’m not a huge fan of small ball in general. Thankfully the Beavers have had enough good hitters in recent years that they haven’t to rely on sacrifices and manufacturing runs quite as much as they used to.

Melton actually was going to put down a 2 strike bunt to the left side last night, but the pitch was way,way outside.

I think he's just pressing and a little in his own head. He did smoke the ball to 2B yesterday while they were interviewing the Vandy kid .

I think he's just pressing and a little in his own head. one of the announcers said something to that effect in last nights game. How batters over think things. Then they get behind 0-1 or 0-2 in count and press a bit.

A slump will last 2 weeks if you take extra hitting, if you just relax and get away from the game it only last 14 days
