One thing you could say for the old Hayward Field, it's big roofs provided excellent coverage from rain (most common) and sunshine (less common) for folks sitting through long track meets.   The new stadium has a roof, but it looks pretty minimal in terms of shelter from the elements. The guy who paid for it doesn't care. He's got his own mini-skyscraper to watch the meets from in deluxe, catered, climate-controlled luxury. What a joke. |

Problem is ticket prices. $25 for s%#t seats on the boring day is ridiculous. $75 for s%#t seats on the hood day is criminal.

Lots and lots of empty seats at the NCAAs, too, even though I suspect the crowds will be bigger today and Saturday for the finals.
No question it's a beautiful venue. I just think they could have had a venue almost as nice, and one that filled their needs, for half the price. But that's not their style, and Phil (and the state taxpayers who paid $40 million for the World Games) was footing the bill.

Looking at video of mens 10K final, stadium is at maybe 10% capacity. Wow. I attended the 84 championships, east and west grandstands were packed for the 10K.
It will be filled for the World Championships, but after that it may very well be Track Ghost Town, USA.
