Certainly would put to rest any thought of the Blazers getting purchased by an out of state group and risking a move. However, when the day does come that Phil Knight is no longer walking around, how much interest does Smolinisky put into the organization? He's an LA guy having grown up and live there currently.

Can't see how this is anything other than a home run for the Blazers and their fans. The ownership group also includes the co-owner of the Los Angeles Dodgers.

As much as people despise Uncle Phil here, this would insure that team stays in Portland and he’s not concerned with making money off of them. He will spend money to try and make them better. Win-win. |
