Oregon State has always made it to Omaha when hosting out of the #3-seed spot, going 5-1 in 2013 and 5-0 in 2018. In 2006, #3 overall Texas was upset by Stanford, which enabled effective #14 overall Oregon State to advance to a Corvallis Super Regional and into Omaha as, effectively, the #3 overall seed.
In 2006, Oregon State started play with Miami out of the #6 seed spot and then #7 national seed Georgia. In 2022, Miami is the #6 overall seed and Georgia is in the Chapel Hill Regional. If Georgia wins the Chapel Hill Regional, the Bulldogs would go into Omaha out of the #7 seed spot.
In 2006, the #2 overall seed was Rice. In 2022, the #2 overall seed is Stanford. Texas State is the #2 seed in the Stanford Regional. Texas State is approximately 166 miles west of Houston.
In 2018, Oregon State started with an ACC team out of the #6 seed spot, North Carolina. The only ACC team that Oregon State can play in the first game at Omaha is #6 Miami. Oregon State then played the Washington Huskies out of the #2 seed spot. That again either points to Stanford or, possibly, the Connecticut Huskies?
Oregon State played North Carolina in the 2006 National Championship Series, the regional host that upset the #4 overall seed in the Super Regional. That would be Florida in 2022. Virginia Tech is the ACC team that can win out of the #4 seed spot. Oregon State played #5 Arkansas in the 2018 National Championship Series. Texas A&M is the #5 overall seed in 2022.
