That Chapel Hill regional looks like jv ball compared to ours. Isn't finishing at the top of the rankings supposed to grant you a regional vs lesser teams?
RPI is such garbage. No way should UNC be hosting over the Zags, but thanks to the good ol RPI they will.

Not many, but they are around. Remember that Gonzaga is #27 in RPI. If you want a team with a low two-seed RPI, because you are #2 overall in RPI, then be careful what you wish for.

We are tied to north Carolina for life 😄 Oregon State has played North Carolina in each of the Beavers' three championships. The only other time that both North Carolina and Oregon State were both in Omaha was 2013. Both teams lost the opener in a game in which nine runs were scored, both won the first elimination game in a game in which the loser/winner scored four runs, both won in a shutout in the second elimination game and both lost their third elimination game by a combined 4-1 score. In each of the final games, the winning team went up 4-0 before North Carolina and Oregon State each pulled one back to make it a 4-1 final. Oregon State went 0-2 in 2005 and 2-2 in 2017 in the College World Series. In 2005, North Carolina was eliminated by Florida and Notre Dame in the Gainesville Regional. In 2017, North Carolina was the #2 overall National Seed, setting up a potential #1 Oregon State v. #2 North Carolina National Championship Series. Unfortunately, the Heels lost to Davidson twice in the Chapel Hill Regional, the final game, a 2-1 loss. Oregon State has seemed like a lock to be a top four team for what seems forever. But North Carolina was out of the Tournament after getting swept by Virginia at the end of April. That was the Heels' fifth consecutive series loss: @ Miami, Virginia Tech, @ Louisville, Georgia Tech and @ Virginia. (Baseball America had North Carolina as the fifth team out. D1Baseball did not even include North Carolina as one of the final eight teams out.) In the past 3 1/2 weeks, the Heels have beat NC State in Raleigh, beat Wake Forest and swept Florida State to finish tied for seventh in the ACC (Georgia Tech won the seventh seed on tiebreakers). North Carolina beat #12 Clemson, #1 Virginia Tech, #4 Notre Dame and #10 NC State in the past six days to win the ACC. Over the past 3 1/2 weeks, the Heels have improved their RPI 62 spots from 66th to 4th. In so doing, North Carolina has clinched one of the 16 host spots. Based on the past, we need to play North Carolina to win a National Championship, so, hopefully, the schedule sets up for that to happen.
