Oregon State is now 42-13, the sixth-best 55-game start in program history behind 2017's 51-4 start, the 45-10 starts in 2005 and 2013, the 44-10-1 start in 2018 and the 43-12 start in 2014. Oregon State can tie 2014 with a win. Unless one of the next four games is cancelled, Oregon State has guaranteed that they will supplant 2005, because the Beavers only played 58 games in 2005. Oregon State will pass 2014 with four consecutive wins. In the alternative, 2022 Oregon State passes 2014 by winning one game and not having one of the next five games be canceled. Oregon State can tied 2013 by winning 10 consecutive games. That would be game two in Omaha. In the alternative, Oregon State passes 2013 by winning nine and not having a game be cancelled. That could come as soon as the Super Regional. It is impossible to catch the 2017 or 2018 seasons. Oregon State can surpass the 2017 season by playing in a 63rd game. That means Oregon State passes 2017 by winning six games. That can come as soon as the Regional. Similarly, 2018 Oregon State cannot be caught. 2022 Oregon State would need to play in a 69th game, which no Beaver team has ever done. Oregon State can only get there by losing at least one of the next 13 (not including the next game). If the Beavers win out, Oregon State would finish 55-13, finishing a half-game behind 2018. The Beavers could possibly get to game 13 by the Super Regional Round.
Best 55-game starts in program history:
51-4 2017 (lost in College World Series Semifinal to LSU).
45-10 2005 (0-2 in College World Series) and 2013 (lost in College World Series Semifinal to Mississippi State).
44-10-1 2018 (National Champions).
43-12 2014 (lost Corvallis Regional Championship Game). 42-13 2022 (?) 41-14 2006 (National Champions).
39-16 2015 (lost Dallas Regional Semifinal).
38-17 2007 (National Champions) and 2011 (lost Nashville Super Regional).

It looks to me as if the sweet spot for win total after 55 games for Oregon State is between 41 and 44 games.(2007 season is an outlier). I’ll take it.
