Lot's been made of OSU softball's spirit on display in Knoxville, with constant dugout antics (dancing, chanting, imitating the coach during her interview). And certainly, there is a fine line between being too serious and not being serious enough. The softball team seems to have found the right line. On the Tennessee board, lots of comments on how little spirit UT seemed to have through both games and positive comments about OSU's loose and sunny demeanor.
I don't think any of that goes on without Coach Berg's full buy-in and encouragement. Even though she seems like a pretty serious coach. I know some coaches are shrewd pranksters in order to subtly encourage their team to stay loose and not get overly serious. They've also got to know if they prank their team (never maliciously), that they're going to get pranked-back. No idea whether Berg is one of those but, given how spirited and effervescent her team is, it wouldn't surprise me.

Great observation - the women were really excited to be playing. The home run that I saw, everyone waited at home plate to celebrate.
Saw only a couple UT players welcome a hitter after a home run. I don't suppose that's entirely bad, but just seemed they were down.

"with constant dugout antics (dancing, chanting..."
Pretty much every girls, women's softball game I've ever attended. More so, age 10-14, but it's prevalent throughout softball
Synchronized clapping, stomping, chanting, and lots of high pitched sounds. Baseball less synchronization, still emotional, less high pitched.

But yes, that is the thing in all levels of girls/women’s softball.

I hope they don't have water balloon fights, or play music, or take a popsicle break at practices. That kind of nonsense makes teams soft.
