Just FYI, if any of you are looking at Omaha, as my dad and I are, flights are crazy spendy and getting spendier by the day. So much so, that it's prolly gonna keep me from making the trip if we make it......$1500ish for refundable tix right now.
Anyone finding anything cheaper? I'm not talking about 18 hours of travel with 3 layovers.

Flying out on different days can make a difference. Tuesday is usually the cheapest. If you don't mind getting to Vegas, you can fly on Allegiant to Omaha from Vegas for a little over 100. Granted you are limited to what days you can fly out.

Being a member of a mileage club helps in this kind of situation. You can cancel right up until the flight and the points go back to your account without penalty. I've seen a couple attractive mileage offers as of late that give miles just for signing up and getting a credit card associated with mileage club membership.

haha...well my cheapskate personality came through. I'm usually buying tickets for multiple people and if I can save a bunch of money I can get crafty.

I've decided I won't be going to Omaha. My wife and I have a lot of money going to different things right now, and I just can't justify the cost of the trip.

I've decided I won't be going to Omaha. My wife and I have a lot of money going to different things right now, and I just can't justify the cost of the trip. The cost of decent airfare (not Allegiant, etc) is over $1000 into Omaha, only about $800 into MCI (Kansas City)... still double what I've paid. I typically stay in Council Bluffs as it is cheaper, and all the nicer places have shuttles to the stadium and downtown. Some will even run them 24 hours to pick you up after drinking into the AM. But, too much to lay down for fans who are only going to if their team makes it that far. Most hotels are nonrefundable in that area. If you have a Bokking.com account there will be some refundables. But, air x 2, game tix x2, hotel, food/drink will easily run $4k this year.

It's about a 3 hour drive north... it was June 15-26
