A couple interesting notes about the schedule and former recruits:
The Prairie View A&M roster will include LJ Westbrook this fall, a N. Salem HS grad and a former verbal during the Craig Robinson era. I believe he would have been part of the Duvivier/Cooke/N'diaye class had he stayed the course.
Speaking of Cooke, he is now a student assistant at Nevada. Cooke had to medically retire from basketball just after transferring there from Iowa State. The Nevada roster also includes Cameron Oliver, another former verbal during the Craig Robinson era.

Wow... that's not going to help the old RPI later in the year! Best go 11-2/10-3... disappointing home schedule.

I was going to come back and say that the schedule was not so bad, but Prairie View A&M, UTSA, and Lamar are all RPI destroyers win or lose. A loss in any of those three games pretty much ends any at large potential. It would almost be better, if Oregon State does not play them at all. The other 10 games are pretty solid. Not big names, but Oregon State showed last year that you do not need a lot of big names to put together a solid RPI. Still, you almost have to go 11-2 or 12-1 against that slate to salvage the first three games being against those teams.

I do like the road games a lot. Tulsa is a solid program, and I feel that will be a challenge at their place. Same with Mississippi St. and Nevada. Those are two tougher than they look games to play. In addition, the road game at Charlotte might be tough since we are traveling so far and they will be excited to host a tournament team from the previous year (I'm still giddy referring to us as a tournament team . I am glad for the Dam City showcase, and its interesting to play U of Portland in Portland at the Moda Center. Call it a guilty pleasure of mine, but I love it when we play UP or Portland St. in Portland. That overtime game at the Chiles Center against UP in Coach Tinkle's first year was one of my favorite games, and it was fun to attend. I agree, I am very disappointed with the home schedule. Besides Fresno St. (Tourney Team last yr) Kent St. (Not Bad) Lamar ( I want revenge for the 1980 NCAA Tourney) Southern Oregon? Savannah State? Prairie View A&M and UTSA? I don't mean any disrespect to those schools. Judging by those teams it sounds like we had a hard time getting teams to play here. I remember back in the spring that Coach Tinkle mentioned that the schedule should have been ready by May. I know we had teams back out of playing us last year and the release of last years schedule was delayed as well. Since the schedule just got released, and its August, my guess was that we had some teams back out again. I don't get it. Unlike past seasons, it seems like we would be a decent if not good team to have on other teams schedule that would help their RPIs. I would have rather played some WCC, WAC, or Big West teams at home than playing the 4 teams I mentioned above.

I read somewhere that hey had to make up for some bad agreements they made on home and homes. That’s why this schedule is not so great. Tinkle said his hands were tied and he will improve the schedules going forward.
