When GPII wasn't hurt, the GSW starting lineup was -Green: 6'6" -Wiggins: 6'7" -GPII: 6'3" -Thompson: 6'6" -Curry: 6'2"
avg. 6'5.2"
OSU could have had a lineup of the following last year (wouldn't have been common, but I expect it did happen):
Mitrovich: 6'9" Brown: 6'6" Mack: 6'3" Marotte: 6'1" Oelhoffen: 5"11"
avg: 6'3.6"
It got slightly taller if you swapped out Tea for Codding, putting it at 6'3.8" - right around an inch and a half under GSW's starting lineup height.
Next year, unlikely lineup, but we could see:
Mitrovich: 6'9" Beers: 6'2" Gardiner: 6'3" Marotte: 6'2" Hansford: 6'2"
Avg also at 6'3.6"
Just a random thought; but I find it shocking that an NBA title contender has a starting lineup that is so close to the same hight as some of the lineups OSU has had/can have on the floor. If Aquino had been able to play the 4, swapping her out for Beers would put our WBB's average height right at GSW's, at en even 6'5". That seems absurd.

All height, no quickness. That’s how GS gets it done.

The saying goes that you can’t teach height, but I agree that you can’t teach fast-twitch muscles either. It’s arguable which deficiency is easier to game-plan against if you only have one, but the reality is teams that win championships generally have both.

Obviously isn't bulletproof but I've always liked the saying. The problem with John... he got plenty of both! And, his "size" also moved well. If you have depth quicks never tire. Although he basically played 5-7 guys. But, his teams were in crazy shape! I vividly remember an undersized UCLA with Sidney Wicks, Curtis Rowe, Steve Patterson take it to the "twin towers" of Artis Gilmore and Pembroke Burrows. Starters played like 38+ minutes. Wicks was an amazing athlete as was Rowe. Bobby and Vallely were so complimentary. Oh... team basketball where art thou. *of course the Sam Gilbert association helped JW along the way!

Wooden had the best teams that money could buy. He was NIL before NIL was cool.

If you look at some of the 2024 recruits, it definitely looks like Rueck may be gearing his recruiting toward better athletes with a nice combo of quickness and skill, with slightly less focus on size.
Mikayla Blakes is perhaps the quickest player in the ‘24 class. She’s elite in transition offense. Gibb is really quick with the ball in her hands. Edwards is an elite athlete at 6-2. Adhel Tac is a very athletic 6-5.
Recruiting them is only half the battle, as everyone will be after the players of Blakes, Tac, and Edwards’ caliber. But it is good to see Rueck starting to aggressively pursue some quicker guards and forwards.
