Congratulations Hjerpe! That’s pretty special!
I’d love to see him get a half dozen more wins or so.

Cooper spent the off-season working on going deeper into games on a consistent basis. He was working on pitching-to-contact rather than throwing hard for his outings. He very rarely throws any where close to his top velocity. Not much contact even with that approach. Plus lefties that don’t have strange arm slots and motion don’t exist. He threw a pitch a couple of weeks ago against a very tough hitter for a called third strike with which the scout sitting in front of me said “what the hell was that.” Cooper can pitch.

Quickest way to stamina and getting deep in the game is leg work. The legs go first - when you see a pitcher losing velo or getting up in the zone, that isn't the arm that's fatigued, it's the legs. I'd love to know what he did in the weight room or with extra running or sprints during the off season.
Coach Dorman and Driveline tightened up his slider. It tended to be a little "slurvey" at times. His release point and the angle of approach make it look like a "sweeper" but it really isn't. It's a tight wrap and IMO, a much better pitch. He hammers hitters with that thing.
Same deal with Christian Chamberlain. He threw a sweeper until RD tightened him up his last year. Christian would camp on 93-94, then punch a hole in you bat with a filthy slider.
Ben Ferrer has been "coached up" by RD. At USC-Upstate he threw almost 90% fastballs - at OSU it's close to 50-50 with 3 pitches including the nasty slider that at times has baffled hitters. Coach Dorman has been good for him.
