Good questions and some high praise for OSU. I like the Canham for Coach of the Year discussion.

How about Dorman for an immediate five year extension at 10% more than whatever salary the highest paid assistant coach in the league is getting!

You guys talk like the baseball team isn’t making any money, but we set an attendance record last weekend and will probably come close to that with our final home series. Plus, we will host a regional.
If we can’t afford to pay top dollar for coaches, who in the league can?

The amount of money the program makes isn't a factor, as the program always operates in the red. Its a question of how much more of the athletic department's money chest should go towards the baseball program versus other needs. And its like that for every program in the country, except those who can draw close to 10,000 per game.

If PAC-12 every got their s%#t together to get a real TV audience it may change a bit. Our staff already has decent salaries for the conference. The highest salaries UCLA and Washington around 800k a year. If Mitch keeps this up, and has post season success, when his contract is due in 2023-2024 I would expect he becomes the highest paid coach in the PAC-12. For reference Casey made about 900k his final year and Mitch makes about 325k a year. He does have some pretty good incentives for success. For instance winning the pac 12 and making it to Omaha would net him about 80k. A title would get him another 25k. CCOY is worth 10k and NCOY is another 15k. There is also 5k for academics which I believe he has earned every year under contract. Overall its a really nice incentive heavy contract for a first time college coach. Its about the same deal that Oregon inked for Wasikowski and they have way deeper pockets than us. I don't think universities really make anything from post season baseball outside of merch and ticket sales if they are hosting.

Be a massive risk. Average attendance per year is around 2600 a game. We sell out on good years for approximately half the games. OSU baseball is really popular but lets be real, if you assume that 3/4 of people attending games are local thats only 1% of Corvallis and Albany showing up on the regular to watch a premium product in a fantastic environment. There would be far more money in developing a real baseball presence on TV or streaming internet like the SEC has. I like the slow careful approach to development that we have taken over the years. Its been based on the actual success of the program and low risk. If Corvallis was a city of 500,000 I totally agree, blow it up to 10k seats like a decent tripple A stadium. Alas it is not and we would probably just end up with a half full stadium and destroy the amazing game day experience.

I'm with you but 100% of reserved seats are soldout before season starts to Season Ticket holders. Whether games are sold out or not is simply GA. 6k seems like too many but pushing to ~4500 I think would easily be sustainable

Totally, developing the first base side to the outfield would be a good move. Then it’s just outfield development which is cheap seats and cheap investment.
If Goss hits 6k seats by the time I’m an old SOB that would be great
