We swept a ranked team in "hole," whilst the Vols lost the series against unranked UK, yet D1 JUST can't seem to pull the trigger for us. It's OK, but our SOS ALONE should have vaulted us past them. "Curses" are meant to be broken. The Beavs have been the first team to "____ ____ _____," more than ONCE. They deserve to be number 1. IF that holds up until the selection committee makes their choices, that is OK by me.

You’d probably be outraged and crying SEC bias if the scripts were flipped and D1 dropped us from #1.

Having us at #2 does not seem unreasonable.

Stanford though dangerous is not a top 10 team.,we had our best pitched game of the year against them for 8 innings. We could not score that night. Than to lose Sunday. They worked us good. Not easy with a league that has decent pitching. Utah was tough wsu beat us once. Baseball is hard to win3.

The only number that matters is the one at the end of the year. Repeat that over and over.
What I like is that we are trending in the right direction. I wouldn’t say that we are hot (as in we’ve gotten hot at the right time), but we have a stronger will than our opponents and the belief that we will win. 2017 was flashier. This is blue-collar stuff.
I love it.

I agree with Pat Casey...we may well be a little better than Tennessee. I've watched many Tenn games vs SEC competition this year and, IMO, UTenn has not faced the quality of pitching we've seen in the PAC this year.
In any case, all I care is that we're nationally seeded either #1 or #2 for the playoffs....either will put us in good shape if we get to Omaha.

I don't know what world you live in but when you're ranked in the top-10, you're a top-10 team.

Per Aaron Fitt of D1 Baseball this morning in their public chat:
"Tennessee's overall body of work is still louder, with more high-end wins against regional teams (road sweeps of Vandy and Florida, a sweep of Georgia Southern, a series win against Auburn). The Beavers are 5-0 against Oregon and 3-1 against Gonzaga, with one win against Stanford in a series loss and a midweek split vs. Grand Canyon, but that's it as far as wins against regional clubs. Still pretty good, but not quite as good as Tennessee, especially since the Beavers also have a few losses against teams like Wazzu, Arizona State, Cal and Utah, three of whom have losing records. I do think it's very close between UT and OSU, but the Vols earned one mulligan week."
I agree and we are getting better. Fun season to watch.

One thing that wearing the #1 ranking does, I think, is wear on a Team. Having that bullseye week in and week out can be draining. Baseball is enough of a grind by itself as is. Let TN have the top ranking for now, and we can be #1 come July.
I see an Orange on Orange collision coming in Omaha around June 25th or so...(we can hope!)

My bad. Stanford is deserving of a top tier rating.

I'm not superstitious, but I want to go into the playoffs shouting "we're number 2!"

TAMU has really jumped in the rankings. That would be an interesting match-up down the road.
