Oregon State reaches into the south Pacific to earn a pledge from an Aussie that can pitch, play first base, and the outfield. If you like Travis Bazzana, you'll probably love this shooting star.
Oscar Hyde is a 16 year old phenom from the Gold Coast Region of Queensland, Australia. He is a 10th year student at Robina Star State School in Robina, Queensland. He plays baseball for the Coomera Cubs - Division I in the Gold Coast League. He is a well known baseball figure in his region, having led his Gold Coast Little League team to the World Series in Williamsport, PA. in 2018. About the time OSU was dog piling in Omaha, he was throwig a no-hitter in Williamsport. Oscar is long, lean, athletic and can throw it by grown men when he pitches for the Cubs. He also has a textbook swing, and hits with HR power.. He throws left and bats left and ran a 7.24 sixty at age 12. Oscar trains at the Robina Sports Academy.
He is the 11th commitment in the 2024 class and if we can assume he will get a long look on the bump, he will be the fifth pitcher in the class. We need to find out more about him, the search continues.
