I didn't know I had a labrum, here are the basics:
The recovery depends upon many factors, such as where the tear was located, how severe it was and how good the surgical repair was. It is believed that it takes at least four to six weeks for the labrum to reattach itself to the rim of the bone, and probably another four to six weeks to get strong.

Labrum recovery to get back to strenuous athletic activity is typically 3-4 months, sometimes 6 depending on the tear (# if anchors and sutures), healing rate, and early care taken by the patient.
"Recovery from surgery:
Recovery from Labrum Repair surgery can take up to 6 months depending on the extent of the repair. Initially after surgery, the patient will be in a sling for 6 weeks. After that, the patient will have a lifting restriction of 5 pounds for the next 6 weeks and then a 10 pound lifting restriction for the 3 months following. At 6 months from surgery, the patient will most likely be cleared for all activity with the understanding that it may take up to a full year from surgery for the patient to feel fully recovered. Physical therapy is also required in order to regain the range of motion and strength thatβs required for a full recovery."
If there happens to be excessive scar tissue build up there will need to be an additional arthroscopic surgery.
Impatient patients are the cause of longer recovery an re-injury. Let's hope it was a small and not on or near the biceps tendon. In any case it can be lengthy and a pain in the arse.

Let's see....If all goes well and 6 months from now she is cleared for full activity that would be Oct. 28th....then a month of practice and building strength back up she "could" be game ready by Dec. 1st....the good thing is that it's on her left arm and not on her shooting arm.

Seeing her play recently, she didnβt look bothered, so Iβm guessing this was a nagging pain injury that she had taken care of after the all-star games specifically. If so, that would suggest itβs on the less severe side and hopefully then on the shorter end of recovery timelines

Labrum surgery sounds painful. Glad to see she's doing well.

She's been participating in all star games after her season ended, and, apparently, not showing any signs of great problems. Seems to me that, if it were thought her recovery would possibly be a factor in her being ready next November, she would have foregone the all star stuff and had the surgery earlier. Let me clarify that a bit. If recovery would be exactly 6 months, and then you're cleared to go - 6 months from today is October 29, while 6 months from 2 weeks ago is October 15. Makes a difference in being ready for the early season.

I don't think she will redshirt unless there is a hiccup in her recovery because we seriously need her to backup JM next season!
