Jorge Reyes never was as good as he was as a Freshman. He was still an every weekend starter his next two years at Oregon State. He started Oregon State's last win in 2009, the 13-5 win over A&M in the Fort Worth Regional, a complete game 10 H, 5 R, 3 ER performance. I read his bio on osubeavers.com wrong, it made it sound like he didn't pitch in 2009, which he did, and pretty well, 6-2, 4.2 ERA in 81 innings. Baseball cube got me straightened out Looks like at least up unitil Covid shut down some of the other professional leagues he was still pitching professionally in Mexico. Same team as Heimlich in 2019, has the Mexican league started back up yet? Yeah, the Mexican League started up in May 2021 and the 2022 season just started up again four days ago.

Reyes' best game was his last one at the Fort Worth Regional in 2009, a real gem, great way to go out. Reyes had a good 2009, but he never pitched as well as 2007.

If you go back in recent history there are a few pitchers who never matched their frosh campaign... Andrew and Kevin are two good examples. Even Drew would be in that category. Sometimes it can be injury/over use compared to HS or better/more complete staff, combo. Luke being an example of just the opposite. Developed slowly and peaked as a Sr.

Andrew and Kevin are two good examples. Even Drew would be in that category. Sometimes it can be injury/over use compared to HS or better/more complete staff, combo. Luke being an example of just the opposite. Developed slowly and peaked as a Sr. Not arguing with you or anything, just enjoyed walking down memory lane a bit with the names you mentioned and some others...
Andrew Moore had a bit of a sophmore slump (if you can call a 2.77 ERA a slump, certainoy higher than the sub 2 ERA he had the other two years), but I think his JR year was even better than frosh. The wins were down, but lots of tough luck no decisions that year. The thing that jumped up, and got him drafted, was his k/bb ratio. He had a quick rise through the minors and seemed like he was on teh cusp of a promising professional career, but true to Mariners form, I think they ruined him. Looks like he was still in the minors last year, but nothing so far this year. He was a great Beaver. Jace Fry was another guy with a pretty bad Sophmore slump / injury who bounced back for a nice junior campaign and is still bouncing around the majors (mostly a reliever now). Matt Boyd had more of a Junior slump than a sophmore slump, but then really put it all together to a a fantastic Senior year. Not only having his best year, but also jumping out of the pen and becoming a very good starter, still starting in the Majors. IIRC, he is one of Drive Line baseballs first real success stories, right? Kevin Abel of magical 2018 CWS fame, of course had Tommy John the next year, which everyone wanted to blame on overuse for one week in Omaha, which of course isn't how that type of injury works... Then Covid made things awkward for him once he got healthy, and 2021 he was pretty much back to his freshman form, statistically speaking. Walks and HR being up a littlel, bit. He is now in rookie ball with the Reds, so hopefully he si still a star in the making. Drew Rasmussen Was great as a freshman, throwing the only perfect game in Beaver history against WSU, Beaver career wise it was pretty downhill from there, including getting drafted, coming back to school, only to undergo a second TJ surgery (someone double check me on the timeline, my memory is fuzzy). His talent so emmense though (high 90s FB, IIRC), he got drafted a THIRD time (first was out of HS), and this time signed, he is now once again a starter and is pitching in the Majors for teh Tampa Bay Rays, Way to go Drew!

These will be conference only stats for Utah pitchers that have substantial innings in the Pac. ERA IP H BB SO BA/AVG Sox 6.08 37 45 10 27 .296 RHP(Starter) Day 4.65 31 35 9 12 .282 RHP(Starter) Harris 5.12 19.1 21 8 16 .273 RHP(Starter) McCleve 1.84 14.2 10 6 15 .189 RHP(Reliever) Whiting 4.91 11 8 4 10 .216 RHP(Reliever) Hostert 5.79 9.1 14 3 7 .333 RHP(Reliever) Kibbe 11.25 8 14 4 5 .412 RHP(Reliever) Ashman 3.38 8 6 7 8 .214 LHP(Reliever) Van Sickle 4.91 3.2 4 0 7 .267 LHP(Reliever) If we don't hit these guys, I'll be pissed for a variety reasons. Here are 3 of those reasons: 1) In 159.1 innings against Pac 12 hitter they've given up 171 hits. 2) In 159.1 innings against Pac 12 hitters they've struck out 114 batters. 3) In 159.1 innings against Pac 12 hitters they've an opponent BA of .273 Their offense is pretty good of late, but we need to make their hittable pitching staff "pay a price."

Look at the amount of HR's these guys have hit. Is it all the elevation of SL City?

Look at the amount of HR's these guys have hit. Is it all the elevation of SL City? They have 15 homers in 18 Pac 12 games, which isn't a tremendous amount.(We have 17 in 18 games, Pac Only) The elevation in SLC will help a little, but I don't know how "to wake up" our 6-9 batting order. They're like a weak hand of poker, which never win any money. What can we do about it ? Answer: Not much, outside of 5-6 hitters we aren't that good offensively. (As of today) That can change over the next 2 weeks if we hit Ute & duck starters like we're capable of.

Look at the amount of HR's these guys have hit. Is it all the elevation of SL City? Oregon State hit 0 HRs at Dedeaux. Utah hit 5 HRs at Dedeaux. Oregon State hit 6 HRs in Pullman. Utah hit 4 HRs in Pullman. Oregon State hit 1 HR in 1 game at PK. Utah hit 2 HRs in 3 games at PK. Utah has only hit 10 HRs in Salt Lake City in 18 games. Utah hit three HRs in the trip to Orem, 548' higher than SL City. No. It's not all SL City elevation.

Utah Outfielder #15, has a familiar look.
Carter Booth, who was in the OSU 2018 recruiting class. Was at OSU, DNP and transferred to Everett CC before landing at Utah. He may have played for Nobie at Everett in 2021?
Booth was a HS slugger at Henry Jackson HS in Mill Creek, WA and was a teammate of 2019 recruit, catcher Ben Steck. Steck also had a short OSU career and transferred after a year or so.

Anyone know of a live stream for the Utah games not requiring a PAC12 Network login? I dropped my P12N access this year... long story, but saving big $.
