Gonzaga's front line starters all pitched over the weekend in their 2-1 series win over the Portland Pilots. Hughes went 6 on Thursday, Vrieling threw 8 on Friday and Wild went 6 on Saturday. My guess would be we see Mullan tonight, or some one from the bullpen making a mid-wek start. Kemptner has been on the shelf and if he emerged tonite, would be very rusty.
The Zags are 23-9, 11-4 in WCC play and have an importand series with St. Marys this coming week end. We might see Hughes or Vrieling for an inning or two in relief if it's a close game, but I doubt that will happen. I suspect winning the WCC championship is slightly more important to them than trying to take down #2 nationally by risking a front line starter and losing.

Wish the weather wasn't s%#t! Zags just keep winning and are now a top 10ish team. Helluva midweek test for both teams. Hopefully Melton is back.....also, Lattery didn't dress over the weekend I was told.....I assume he'd be in line for a start in one of the two games. Anyone have an info on him?

Re: Melton and Lattery.
Multiple performances of "Hamilton" were cancelled/postponed/rescheduled over the weekend due to illness/flu. There in fact seems to be a "bug" going around.
Hopefully this is truly what ails both OSU baseball players.

Zags are a certain NCAA team. A win over the Beavers now would go a long ways towards securing a regional host spot. Interesting.

RHP Jaren Hunter (1-0, 3.33) vs. RHP Nate Weeldreyer (0-0, 3.38) today...neither team has named tomorrow yet
Zags look to be Johnny All Staff this one...Weeldreyer 5 games, 8 innings so far this year, 2 BB, 7 K and 7 H so far

Rain may well decide this game. Close to being one of those days that waterfowl swim the low spots in Corvallis.

Lets hope the Beaver HR 'awakening' continues - even in cool damp weather.

I assume tomorrow could be Ferrer or Lattery or both.
