They sure look an up and down outfit....15W-16L with some wins vs. good teams, losses to mediocre outfits. I'm sure they view our series as a chance to "right their ship" going into the 2nd half of the season....

Their stats are pretty good, we look better offensively, they have a better team era. They have some quality wins against MSU and Gonzaga and some head scratching losses. Seem very dangerous and would help their season to take some games from a ranked team like the Beavs

Tonight? Luis Ramirez, a crafty pitcher from east L.A.
Modest velo, but command over 5 or 6 pitches that include slider, slurve, curve, sinmker and change up. Luis moves the baseball - in-out-up-down in the zone. He can tie hitters up - opened the year by shutting down then #1, Mississippi State.
A very smart pitcher.

The west coast teams will be over-shadowed by the Stanford v UCLA seies in L.A. Everyone is watching that series, However . . there is this.
From Sorenson at D! Baseball:
WORTH KEEPING AN EYE ON
The best of the rest in a weekend full of really tasty matchups around the country.
– Long Beach State (15-16, 5-7 Big West) at No. 3 Oregon State (24-7, 10-5 Pac 12)
"The only reason I put this one here is because the next two weeks are do-or-die for the Dirtbags. After these three with OSU they’ll have another roadie to Big West-leading UC Santa Barbara, so if they are going to prove their mettle and pick up some much-needed RPI wins (they are No. 110 right now), it starts here. Remember, there is no post-season tournament for the Big West… yet."

Ramirez actually not tonight, they are starting Marques Johnson who has decent stats and Zach Voelker on Saturday (good stats). Friday is TBD for them and expecting them to start Rameriz there, but we'll see. He just went 2 IP last week after being out for last few games before a great start to the year giving up like 1 ER in 25 IP

Two unearned runs last weekend in the 28-2 win. Marques Johnson was the Saturday starter, but he was demoted after giving up four earned in 1.2 innings against Sac State back in February. He was demoted to the bullpen, but he threw 6.1 one-hit innings in the Friday loss to Cal Poly last weekend to earn the start today. Juaron Watts-Brown was the Sunday starter but was moved as the first reliever up after Ramirez hit his pitch count. Zack Voelker, who was the midweek starter, appears to have taken over Watts-Brown's spot.
