It's not easy to get the top scores when competing in an early session...but Jade's performance just wasn't quite at her highest level. Do I believe she's a better gymnast than Skaggs? For sure. But Thomas and Lee are really good.

She was supposed to be in the evening session, under the NCAA handbook. They moved her to the afternoon session to "balance" the number of all-around competitors, and to give the afternoon session a little more pop. The OSU coaches battled against this move, but were overruled.
Not sure if this impacted her scores but it's generally harder to get the best scores in the afternoon session. Judges are reluctant to give the best scores early (or so I have been told), even though each routine is supposed to be judged on its individual merit.
