ESPN2 not doing a great job of overall gymnast scoring... Semi Final #1... Oklahoma, Utah, Bama, Minny, plus 10 individuals: Jade not an exceptional vault at 9.8875. Currently 4th with Bama and Minny still to rotate. Currently tied for 1st on Bars... 9.95 Beam next Hard to go thru all individuals, but it appears she's in 2nd right now after 2 rotations for the AA... trailing Rucker from Utah by 0.0125??

sort of odd how the individuals rotate. Jade has done 3 of 4 events...two have done none Some might be specialists in only one (or more) event??

Some might be specialists in only one event?? maybe since the website is blank on the all around tab...I am assuming the individuals are all in for the all around but that may be wrong Edit the all around is now populating..I guess they have t finish all the events first From the (2) girls listed Jade needs a 9.7 "ish" on floor to take the lead. But, it is impossible from the site to tell who is doing all (4) events until they post scores. Sooners will win this semi 198.0625 over Utah 197.7125 AA... as of now Jade needs a 9.875 to tie... throws a 9.9125 to lead (win?) this semi with a 39.65 - 6th vault - 1st (t) bars - 11th (t) beam - 9th (t) floor I'd think this would hold for a top 3-5, but have no idea of teams and individuals coming up?!

Jade's day is complete. AA leader in the clubhouse with 39.650. Scoring is uniformly low - which is good for this high level of competition. And may bode well for Jade's total holding up.
Also currently tied for 1st on bars with 9.950.

Clutch performance at the championships
Probably would have been a 10.0 or 9.975 in any regular season meet.

Hard to FATHOM that level of perfection. Awe inspiring! The self-sacrifice it takes to be…. that kind of athlete. Stunning. I hope and pray she doesn’t “vault through the portal.” 🙏🏻

I hope and pray she doesn’t “vault through the portal.” 🙏🏻 I was somewhat surprised, at 21 years old and having signed her original LOI back in 2017(!) that her long and winding road ultimately brought her (5 years later) to Corvallis. She had every opportunity, not just after her 2 silver medals in 2 consecutive world championships, but particularly after her gold on floor in Tokyo, to make other plans. Getting to actually see her shine in Orange and Black for one phenomenal season is all that I ever hoped for. Anything after this - especially if she takes the AA title at nationals - is gravy.

What kind of competitor is Jade Carey? After 2 tiny balance checks in her beam routine, she absolutely nails her dismount to score a 9.90 and stay in the hunt.

On the other hand... I wish I could have begun my college experience a few years later! I think a few years "wiser" would have made me enjoy it much more, and had me spending far less time recovering from dumb arse decisions!

She is the exception to OSU benefitting from NIL. She may have not come here if NIL wasn't in play. With it, she was allowed to tour with the other Olympians, make some $$ and still come back to OSU. No NIL and she may just have went on the touring circuit.

Jade's 39.650 averages to 9.9125 over the 4 events. As best as I can tell... currently in the 2nd semi after 3 rotations: (not knowing which are competing in AA for sure)
Thomas (FL) 9.90, 9.975, 9.9375 = 9.9375 Bars/Vault/Beam Wong (FL) 9.90, 9 .9125, 9.8625 = 9.8916 " Skaggs (FL) 9.90, 9.9125, 9.9125 = 9.90833 "
Lee (AU) 9.85, 9.9625, 9.95 = 9.9208 Bars, Beam, Floor Groth (AU) 9.80, 9.925, 9.900 = 9.875 "
Brooks (MI) 9.90, 9.9, 9.95 = 9.9166
Good chance of a top 3-4 for Jade. Not looking good for 1st with Thomas having a "big" lead and floor left?! Last rotation to start soon

Jade will not be AA champ... so far:
Thomas (FL) 39.8125 finishes with 10.0 on the floor! Lee (AU) 39.6750 finishes 9.9625 on beam (had wrong apparatus above) Skaggs (FL) 39.6625 Jade (OSU) 39.6500
Brooks 9.2875 on beam to lose her shot
