After a long illness. Honestly, I was not the biggest fan of his comedy, but he had a terrific podcast - Gilbert Gottfried's Amazing Colossal Podcast - that featured an impressive list of artists and entertainers - highlighting A, B and C-list 50's through 70's celebrities. Folks no longer in the spotlight but with incredible stories to tell. www.gilbertpodcast.com/This episode in particular is amazing. Sonny Fox was a New York area TV personality primarily known for hosting a popular NYC TV kids show (like Ramblin' Rod) Wonderama. But he goes into detail about his service experience in Germany during WW2, getting a "battlefield promotion" before the Battle of the Bulge, before being captured by the Nazis, and then, an unforgettable act of courage by his Master Sargent in the POW camp. I'll never forget that account of true heroism told by a very humble man. www.gilbertpodcast.com/sonny-fox-encore/I will definitely miss the podcast.

I’ll have to check them out. Thanks for the recommendation. He wasn’t my favorite comedian either, but he did somethings quite well. I did enjoy his crazy voice and squinty eyes. I didn’t realize he did so much off-color work. His roast of George Takei took me by surprise (just saw it on YouTube).
