Don't forget the distraction our Friday night guy had....he was essentially never the same, and honestly we had to win in spite of him......that team was a juggernaut Distraction? He was pitching great until the Super Regional. I personally think that he got hurt or was just dead tired after the Super Regional. He threw 124 pitches after coming out and throwing on an NCAA short week (he threw Saturday in the Regional and then Friday in the Super Regional). Heimlich going 8.2 innings was also wildly unnecessary. He threw 107 pitches to go 8.1 innings. He then spent 17 wildly unnecessary pitches to get the second out in the ninth. He could have gone out at the beginning of the ninth or with one out and been fine I think. After that, Heimlich was never the same. I've gotten some insider info on the Heimlich sitch. The pressure, and distraction was absolutely a big part of his struggles.

Number of pitches he accumulated over 9 weeks. Missouri St 107 pitches Oregon 113 ASU 127 WSU 104 Stanford 113 USC 120 UCLA 125 LSU 115 Minnesota 124 Heimlich had made 9 other appearances before Missouri St. He threw over 100 pitches in 5 of them. Nebraska 101 pitches Hartford 112 CSF 111 Cal 101 Utah 121 The guy was running on empty by the Regionals & Super Regionals.(He still had two good outings though)

This thread should have ended a week ago so that we could all exist in ignorant bliss. Yeah... as mentioned, it's MLB and the scouting reports catch up quickly.
