He went down in the 2nd game of the UCI series and has now missed 22 consecutive games. There will likely be some kinks in his first come-back game. Probably 3 innings max or maybe 40 pitches or so. He's been throwing for a while now - coaches have been very careful with him - he has a future in the game.
For the faithful, a time for understanding and patience.

Benny say he went down in third game of Xavier series in Surprise, Arizona 85374. Has now missed 24 consecutive games.

I was hoping for exactly this plan. Jake gets a controlled environment with the routine as a starter without having to get up in the pen at a moment's notice. And with the Thursday-Saturday series and Easter Sunday off, this allows Cooper and Kmatz to stay on their regular rotation with full rest. And if all goes well with Jake, he gets the extra rest between this Thursday start and his next one - either Saturday or Sunday vs. Washington.
