Verburg

Verburg picked up the loss against Stanford one week ago.  He threw a great fifth.  Then, he rested and pitched like hot garbage in the sixth.  Verburg seems like he is great for three outs, but they keep wanting him to throw that second inning, and that has led to a lot of problems.

Verburg this year:

Game 2 against Gonzaga:       Flyout, walk, strikeout and flyout.
Game 2 against Xavier:           Flyout, strikeout, walk and lineout.
Game 3 against Xavier:           Single, infield single, bunt, sac fly and strikeout.  Save.
Game 3 against Irvine:            Strikeout, flyout, groundout, flyout, home run, infield flyout and groundout.  Second inning problem.  Loss.
Game 3 against Wazzu:           Walk, single, strikeout, groundout, strikeout, strikeout, beanball, beanball, flyout, single and single.  Second inning problem.  Loss.
Game 1 against GCU:              Strikeout, strikeout, walk and flyout.
Game 3 against Arizona State: Walk, sac fly (bases loaded) and groundout.  Loss.
Seattle:                                     Groundout, groundout, groundout, walk, strikeout and strikeout.
Game 3 against California:       Foul out, groundout, flyout, flyout, homer, double, strikeout, single and caught stealing.  Second inning problem.
Game 2 against Nevada:          Double, double, single, single, pickoff, walk and lineout.  Bad outing.  Melton scored Meckler to win 9-8.
Game 3 against Stanford:         Groundout, flyout, groundout, double, double and walk.  Second inning problem.  Loss.

Outside of the Nevada game, which may have been a warmup problem, Verburg came in and pitched one good inning each time.  Most of the time, when Verburg was extended to a second inning, there were problems.
