I'm pretty sure Tre Williams entered the portal to chase that NIL money.

So do you think players go portal so they can go somewhere that the can get more NIL? I'm not a fan of neither the portal nor NIL But I am old and old school and feel that if you sign with a school you made a commitment (like TVO said). If you are on scholarship..you get free or greatly reduced tuition expense...and get to graduate with little or no student debt. Imagine how the students that struggle to feed themselves and rack up debt feel? Or maybe it's just a generational thing. Maybe I just don't 'get' the way the younger generations thinks today. Not looking to create a typical board 'fight'...just stating my opinion and my frustration NIL is generally a disaster since they made it a full on greed feeding frenzy. They should have set it up as profit sharing between players and the school to give a benefit of the product to everyone involved. Scholarships and food doesn’t come close to being the same value if a moderately successful football programs profits for instance. Past that point I think you are two things where NIL affects transfer portal in big sports. 1) Bog stars playing at low and mid tier programs will trade up to high cash programs. 2) You will see players jump in the transfer portal then swiftly retract when a pile of cash falls in their lap. Personally I think it will continue to ruin the big sports. Instead of fixing systemic issues that make them unfair and unfun they poured gasoline all over it to see how bad it can get. It’s basically like the MLB but with no multi year contracts and no collective bargaining power. Cash has been the biggest predictor of win totals in basketball and football for 40 years. Now it will be the only way schools programs exist in 2040.
