The USA gets England and Iran in its group so far. We will play Iran in the first game, in Qatar. That should be interesting.

Mexico and Canada are going to have a hard time getting through. So are we. Because Costa Rica has a veritable walk in the park? Team USA is in a potentially harder group than Canada and Mexico. Mexico has a pretty straightforward path to the knockout round, just need to sneak by Poland. Canada needs to get by Croatia. USMNT is undefeated in games that actually mean something against England and 0-8 all-time in Friendlies. I am hoping that USMNT can at least salvage a draw. I hate being in the same group as Iran, because they tend to play up for شيطان بزرگ, Shaytân-e Bozorg "The Great Satan." I am hoping that USMNT plays better against Iran than in 1998. USMNT is undefeated against Scotland since 1992. 0-3 before that. USMNT is undefeated against Wales all-time. Ukraine is undefeated against United States all-time and undefeated and untied since 1992. Looking forward to Qatar! |

Poland is very tough. Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich is one of the top players in the world.

Robert Lewandowski of Bayern Munich is one of the top players in the world. It's either Lewandowski or Messi, right? Don't sleep on Zielinski either. As a member of the Polish diaspora, I am a fan of Team Poland. Zielinski's teammate Lozano at Napoli, who plays for Mexico, is better than anyone else on Poland outside of Lwandowski and Zielinski. I mean:  Fun facts: Brazil has advanced to the Knockout Stage in each of the nine past World Cups. Mexico has the second longest current Knockout Stage streak at seven. Mexico was banned from the 1990 World Cup for cheating in 1988. But Mexico qualified for each of the Knockout Stage in each of the past nine World Cups otherwise. The games between Argentina, Mexico and Poland will all be entertaining, though. Great group. |
