I see Kaitlyn Yanish competed in the Floor exercise after being injured a few weeks ago. Pretty sure she was not 100% as she had a low score (for her) of 9.825 and her season best was a 9.95 which she scored on her final event in front a Gill crowd which happened to be against Stanford. The Beavs won that meet 197.225 to 195.050 over Furd.
Darn!

Had a nice routine going but underrotated her landing on her final tumbling pass and took a step forward. Needed a 9.90 to move past Stanford into 2nd. Not sure whether just a clean landing on that pass would have done it, but it was close.

Utah, UCLA, Stanford and Cal from the PAC-12 made it to the next round on Saturday. OSU beat both UCLA and Stanford in head to heads meets this year. Denver also advanced and the Beavers also beat them in a Quad meet a few weeks ago. OSU just did not get the job done on Thursday.

No one will like this comment, but is this program any better under Chaplin than coach Turpin? I know we were always on the cusp of big things with Jim. He retired because of back issues. Seems like we have stagnated.

Seems like we have stagnated. Probably best to save program assessment comments until after Nationals. We have potentially an NCAA All-Around and multiple-event champion on this team.
Turpin left after the 1997 season. That's 25 seasons ago and things have changed a lot. Jerry Pettibone had just been fired/Mike Riley hired Eddie Payne was men's basketball HC Judy Spoelstra was in her 2nd season as women's basketball HC Pat Casey was in his 3rd season as baseball HC We didn't have a track or cross country team
OSU under Turpin also competed in the Pac-10 Conference. Utah's introduction into the Pac-12 has probably been the biggest element in bumping OSU down a notch in the Conference pecking-order. I would say that Gymnastics, after WBB, continues to be our most competitive women's program (above Golf, Rowing, Soccer, Softball, Track/XC and Volleyball). FWIW, OSU tied for the Regular Season Pac-12 Championship this season with a 4-1 record in conference dual meets.
And..we just moved into a brand-new deluxe practice facility this season, which should help in all aspects of recruiting and competitiveness.

My question is are the Chaplin's the right coaches to get osu to the next level?
