Sorry. This post was tongue in cheek. I know we are good. I know the strengths and weaknesses. I was mainly poking fun at the few on here that feel like anything short of 50 wins and another NC is a failed season. Good to know. I didn't think we were tost but I still read your poast.

I don't follow the rest of the league as closely as I used to. Is there a lack of dominant arms across the conference? Seems like you could always count on a couple UCLA & Stanford kids in particular and sprinkle in a few others. Are there some studs staring us down in the coming weeks in terms of opposing pitchers? Looks like we still need to play #1, #3, #4 and #5 in terms of conference standings and will have played 8 thru 11 after this weekend. Among draft-eligible pitchers, the best 17 pitchers on Oregon State's schedule (including Oregon State) are supposed to be: 1. Cooper Hjerpe Oregon State 2. Gabriel Hughes Gonzaga (Pitched against New Mexico.) 3. Luis Ramirez Long Beach State (92-94 fastball, reaching 98 occasionally with a lot of sink. Plus, his slider and change are both plus pitches, when he is on. Also has a curve.) 4. Trystan Vrieling Gonzaga (Oregon State scored 8 ER on 5 1Bs, 2 3Bs and 4 BBs. That is Vrieling's only loss on the year.) 5. William Kempner Gonzaga (Oregon State scored 5 R, 3 ER on 5 1Bs, 1 2B, 2 BBs and 2 HBPs. Kempner's only loss on the year. He may be hurt now.) 6. Josh White California (Oregon State scored 6 R, 5 ER on 6 1Bs, 3 wBs, 1 HR and 2 BBs.) 7. Max Rajcic UCLA (Supposedly has one of the best curveballs in the past "few years." If he maintains control of his low-90 fastball, he can be scary.) 8. Jake Pfennigs Oregon State 9. Adam Maier Oregon (Good fastball that touches 96 mph. Extremely high-spin slider, exceeding 3000 RPM and a "deceiving changeup." He missed his last three starts.) 10. Quinn Mathews Stanford (Low-90s fastball with a good changeup and a slider. Blanked Arkansas, Northridge and Wazzu. Good outing against Zona. Got shelled by Oregon.) 11. Brody Jessee Gonzaga (Pitched against California.) 12. Devereaux Harrison Long Beach State (Reliever. Member of Collegiate Team USA. Good fastball and breaking balls.) 13. Andrew Mosiello Oregon (One start. Otherwise, he has primarily been a reliever. 91-93 mph fastball. Two breaking balls, and a changeup.) 14. Will Frisch Oregon State (Still here, even though injured.) 15. Jake Brooks UCLA (He gave up 4 ER against USC and picked up the loss. He otherwise has always thrown at least 5 and gave up 5 ER in 5 games, 2 runs at most.) 16. Adam Tulloch Arizona State (Oregon State scored 7 ER on 3 1Bs, 1 HR, 5 BBs and 1 HBP in 21-0 win. Tulloch's only loss of the year.) 17. Dawson Netz Arizona (90-94 fastball, touching 95. Curveball is best secondary pitch. He also has a slider and cutter.)
1. Gonzaga 4 2. Long Beach State 2 2. Oregon 2 2. Oregon State 2 2. UCLA 2 6. Arizona 1 6. Arizona State 1 6. California 1 6. Stanford 1

Did they do something to the baseballs again? Seems like a lot more offense this year, and a lot less dominant pitching, pretty much across the board...

After just 3 or 4 weekends, Conference standings are a pretty small sample size. In terms of RPI, the Beavers, after this weekend, will have played PAC-12 schools #4, #6, #10 and #11. With 1, 2, 5, 7, 8, 9 remaining. Still, point is well taken: Beavs have not yet played a PAC-12 school that will likely make the post-season. Stanford will be the first. On the other hand, both Gonzaga and Grand Canyon could well make the post-season (both top 30 RPI as of now). It's still early, but UNR, Cal. Irvine and Xavier are all in the 46-62 range RPI-wise. Xavier is 13-4 since their disastrous start. Against those 5 teams, the Beavs are 10-2.

The unfortunate fallout from Kempner missing starts is that Gonzaga had to use the pitch by committee approach against Oregon. The 3B, who hasn’t pitched this season, started and was roughed up by the ducks. A good staff becomes thin. Sounds familiar.

That's a stellar record versus teams who have all been in post season tournament very recently.

I was mainly poking fun at the few on here that feel like anything short of 50 wins and another NC is a failed season. Expectations are high this season within the program, and within the fan base. We're doin pretty well considering the pitching we've lost. Fans who follow pretty closely are concerned about pitching depth for post season. It's a legitimate concern considering what we've seen on Sundays, and midweek so far. I follow the program closely. Have for almost 20 years. I have watched or followed every game this season. I'm well aware of our shortcomings and the rumblings from our fan base, from overly optimistic to doom and gloom. I thought I was widely known as a sarcastic troll and inveterate liar around here. If folks are taking me too seriously, ima hafta step my game up......
