With an important weekend series against Stanford coming up, and our pitching already stretched thin (not to mention our bullpen stalwarts have been VERY wobbly), expect to see some johnny allstaff tuesday and wednesday, and mostly young guys and guys that don't usually get to pitch.
I would not be surprised to see a couple high scoring games, and even if we lose both I will not frett too much. This is the time of year when you rest your main guys during the week, test young up and comers, and concentrate on winning conference games.
I woudl like to see Trosky (SS/2B/3B), Guerra (3B/DH/1B), McDowell (OF), and Kasper (OF) play the entirety of both games, give Melton, Meckler, Boyd, Durnedde, Gretler (maybe 2), Bazanna and Forester each one full game off.
Pitching wise ... Thorsteinson, Jaren Hunter (starter), Grewe, Quinn, Lattery (starter) and Lawson should all get extended work, and be allowed to work through pains / soak up innings, if needed. Carpenter and Verburg might get some work as well, if nothing else to try and regain confidence.

Have we ever really rested our entire core line-up during midweek games? I remember even the 56-6 season, it was mostly just Adley getting a day off behind the dish and some sporadic days off here and there for guys who were banged up, but mostly Madrigal/Kwan/Grenier/Larnach/Gretler, etc still playing all the mid-week games.

I don't remember a lot of days off. Makes sense to give Logan time specially since his backup is so great.

Barring injury or fatigue of some sort, I think every player on the team wants to be out there.

They don't play enough games to need to rest the starters. Sure some guys get their shots mid-week, but need to keep the core group playing. Losing too many Tuesdays gets hard on the old RPI.

Rest guys if dinged up, otherwise full go. But yea, the pitching.....who knows?
NV's midweek guys get to face the orange saw......cuttin through pitchers like they was a Doug fir! I like our chances.

I think hitters need to hit. That game that Boyd took off mid week after WSU (I do think he was dinged from the HBP on the hand Sunday of that series) set him back a game or two on the weekend.
I do like the idea of Guerra at 1b and let Forrester DH. We 4-D1 dudes who can play 3b. Go with the hot hand at BP and the Best Arm to hitting side match up.

Nevada is 11-10 overall. RPI is 47. They beat USF last Tuesday 20-2 - Their second 20-2 victory of the season, having beaten GCU by that score earlier.
Their Tuesday guy looks to be Murillo (Jr.). He started last Tue. and hasn't pitched since. He has a BAA of .313 and about a 1.6 WHIP. He pitched Last Tue: 6 inning with only 2 hits. He's been out of High School since 2018.
Joshua Zamora is their cleanup hitter: 8 HR with a 1.266 OPS. He's a super veteran, having last played HS ball in 2017 - and already having played an unreal 179 games for the Wolfpack.

Ha, Casey approached every game on the schedule as if it were game three of the finals in Omaha.

He has given up runs in all of his outings, except in a 7 inning strong showing against Fresno. Just on Saturday, in one inning against Missouri, he gave up 6 runs, 4 earned, on 4 hits. No strikeouts. I think if we stay disciplined, yet aggressive, we’ll get the hits we need.
