Ok. I guess he should pack his bags and head to the Madagascar league. No. Those are your words, not mine. What it does mean is that Canham and Dorman need to, and I trust they WILL, continue to evaluate the staff and come up with appropriate roles for the pitchers. We may see the latest result of that process tomorrow at about 12:15 when a Sunday starter takes the mound for the Beavs. The season is still young and roles are being determined. Madagascar  WTF ? Always a fun option in “Risk”. |

Errors....really killed us..which is the nature of an error... Yea the errors were brutal, but what really killed us was Kmatz loading the bases, and then serving up meat to Beavers......it was not a good day for our freshmen other than Bazzana. |

There is a limit to how much you can "work around" your pitching staff. Mitch and Rich are doing it with smoke and mirrors - the staff has taken some shots broadside.
1) #2 Starter Pfennigs will likely miss 1/4 of the 56 game season if he gets back for a start next Saturday against Stanford (out for 14 games)
2) #3 Starter Frisch undergoing exploratory UCL surgery - could be lost for the year.
3) Experienced reliever Mundt down for the year (TJ surgery)
4) High velo reliever Boisvert (97 mph) is injured.
5) Touted reliever (94 mph and strike-thrower) Stuhr is MIA.
OSU does not have a "model" closer. The Beavs will close with who they think that can command the zone and consistently get outs. A tall order right now.

Errors potentially effect that too. Kmatz pitch count was way higher way earlier than average. Errors keep the pitcher tossing. |
