Nick Daschel recently wrote that he expects that only 5-6 players from this year's team will be back next year and some of the players expected to transfer are "prominent." He said that coaches and players are meeting this week.
Egad, but I hope Davis and Taylor are not among the "prominent" who are leaving. In any event, it looks like the team will be starting all over again next year. It's tough to believe that it will be a good year nest year unless some unknown transfers are on the horizon.
I have a feeling that the post-Wayne Tinkle era is not that far off...

What will be curious to see is if there are any coaching changes.
If Wayne has privately wanted a change or other coaches have wanted to explore options, now's the time. If they all want to stick with it, I hope the AD doesn't force a change... live with the coaches as a unit or die with the coaches as a unit.
I personally consider forced firings of assistants the kiss of death to coaching staffs in general within a year or two, usually one. I assume it works some of the time but I can't think of any instances right off the bat.
If over half the team turns overn they (both coaches and players) have a LOT of eork ahead of them.

They only won 3 games so it isn't a shocker there would be massive defections. Doesn't take a genius to figure out there were serious internal issues.

Good.
I honestly don’t want players around who aren’t buying in. And I don’t want players around who want to be on another team.
But I feel strongly that unless we hear differently, then the coaches are equally to blame. So get rid of the assistants who alienated our players. Get rid of the assistants who aren’t able to bring the team together as a unit. Get rid of the assistants that let whatever the problem was blow up and turn into a 3-28 season.
Because if Tinkle doesn’t, next is him.

Losing Davis and/or Taylor would suck. If there are indeed that many departures, I hope WT holds one scholarship back to hopefully be used for a mid-season transfer. Team isn’t likely to be good anyway — tough to meld that many new guys into a good team — and having that open scholarship can often lead to a nice mid-season transfer. Illinois picked up a guy from Baylor who was pretty highly rated coming out of HS who didn’t play much due to injury and trouble keeping weight down. He spent 2nd semester rehabbing, getting in better shape and practicing with team. They expect him to be a strong contributor going forward. Obviously need to do your due diligence with these types of transfers (as you have to with all), but can find some gems that might not have looked at program initially.

Warren Washington just entered the transfer portal so he's on to school #3. Maybe we can entice him to come back with a Local Boyz gift certificate.

Local Boyz is for winners, humanitarians, native Pacific Islanders and people with a huge hunger and ten bucks. He gets a peacock breakfast platter at best.

Not getting "huge hunger" taken care of for $10.

After watching whatever that was for the past 31 games, I have a feeling we'd still take him back though.
