Julianna Walker, 5-6 PG at Syracuse, has entered the portal. She was the 2021 State of Washington Gatorade Player of the Year at Annie Wright School in Tacoma, a 1A school the size of Oregon's 3A or 4A classifications. She scored 2,834 points in her HS career (46% FG and 41% on 3's), and would have been the all-time leading scorer over Hailey Van Lith of Cashmere (also a small school; now at Louisville), but for Pandemic shortened seasons. Admittedly her competition was not great at all, which allowed her to average 34.9pts, 7.6rebs, and 9.7 assists as a senior, 34.3pts 4.7rebs, and 7.1assists as a junior. She averaged 35pts as a freshmen. Don't have her sophomore stats. She scored over 30 points 59 times in her career. She sat on the bench at Syracuse (a very troubled program that saw 10 players and the coach exit after the 2021 season). Her stats 6.4 minutes/g 1.6pts. She has expressed interest in the Huskies and certainly Katie Faulkner is keenly aware of her.
Don't know if the Beavers are interested or not, and don't know if she is even good enough. I have never seen her play except on HS videos. This is not an endorsement for the Beavers, but I could not agree more with the comments on these blogs that unless the Beavs get a true PG, they will continue to struggle with excessive TO's and inefficient offense. The real Achilles heel to an otherwise talented roster (getting more talented with next year's incoming freshmen). Go Beavs beat New Mexico and everyone else! (Apologies if someone else has already posted her transfer news).

Just throwing out names. No reason to believe the Beavs are pursing either of these two guards at this point. They are both from the South/East and no reason to hint at them heading this way yet.
Both players have two years of eligibility remaining:
KK Deans is leaving West Virginia. A guard who averages 13.7 points as Sophomore and 14.5 this season. Shooting percentages went down this year, but was 44-106 (.415) from 3 in her sophomore campaign. She was rated #51 in her class by Hoopgurlz.
Savannah Wheeler from Marshall. Averaged 20.3ppg this season and was 1st team all conference. Decent shooting percentages at .345 from 3. Has shown steady improvement throughout her career. 13.4ppg as a freshman, 17 as a sophomore, and 20.3 this season. She is from Kentucky.
I think this just an example showing there are going to be numerous options out there, and finding the right fit for the Beavs is going to be exciting to watch.

I watched some of Walker this year. Didn't bring much to the table. I don't think she's really a PG. Not much of a play maker, not quick, can't drive. Pretty much a spot up 3 point shooter, who didn't shoot the 3 very accurately. Hard pass. I don't think she's a high major level player. Maybe she'd do okay at a Big Sky school.
Wow, I looked at her stats. Zero assists for the season. 7 of her 8 made FG were 3s. FG% under 30%.
Van Lith, von Oelhoffen and Walker all scored a ton of points in high school during the same time frame, but clearly Walker is not the same level of college prospect as the other 2.

I see Jenny Huth has started following KK Deans on twitter, so the Beavs are at least showing a little interest. She is a solid player. I wonder what Savannah Samuel would tell her about Oregon State?

All depends on whether she talks to Savannah or her mom. Yes, I am still a little bitter about that, I thought she might have stayed without mom's heavy hand. Ok, moving on...

I get it. Savannah has a lot of athletic ability, but she just wasn't the polished basketball player her Mom thought she was. Hopefully her game will come around. As far as I know, there was no written 'goodbye' to Oregon State fans from Savannah, which I thought was a bit sad. Since it was a Covid year with no fans in the stands, maybe she never felt the love.

I like the sounds of this person. Her ht. Shouldn’t be an issue if she can get the ball up court and get the ball to the kids who are already tall enough!!!!!!
