What a great game they both had. Kennedy had probably her best game yet overall. She really controlled the game when we needed her to. Jelena was outstanding, good hands and created easy shots for herself. There’s still more bball to play this year but it’s hard to not think ahead. Kennedy, Jelena, a (hopefully) healthy Taylor, Timea and Raegan. That’s a heck of a front court with lots of options. Size, strength, and experience from the first three with two all Americans added in. This team will be fun to watch next year, but still more this year 😄. Congrats to Kennedy and Jelena, keep it up against either Portland or CSU. Go Beavers!!!

Our clear advantage against LBSU was in the paint. It was good to see Jelena and Kennedy dominate down low, and that was about what I had expected from them against a team whose tallest player was typically around 6-1/6-2. It was encouraging to see them be able to take advantage of it. I was especially impressed with Kennedy's ability to switch 1-5 and guard on the perimeter. I'm hopeful for a big offseason from Kennedy. She'll need to develop some offensive consistency and confidence around the basket and on the perimeter. We should be really good at the 4/5 positions next year.
Should Portland win, they'll provide a much tougher presence in the paint with a pair of Aussies in Lucy Cochrane and Alex Fowler. Cochrane leads the nation in blocked shots per game.

One of the hardest skills for players to learn is the post up pass. It is usually the last one developed for a number of reasons. I believe that the lack of production from the post players has a lot to do with the fact that they were not receiving those passes. They seemed to focus more on them this game. Now those passes are harder against taller players but their is no reason that they should not be attempted. the lack of true post players in high school probably has a lot to do with players lack of skill in passing in to the post. With Oregon St. wealth in post players that should have been a priority early on.
