Any news on why he wasn’t in the lineup tonight? I’m hoping he was simple given a day off, but I’m worried he may have an injury of some sort.

No worrying until he’s not in a weekend series. Midweek game or not, Boyd should be in the lineup every game, just like Melton. Not seeing him today has me concerned. |

He was in full uniform and every other inning would jog and stretch.... don't know anything but looked like he was keeping himself ready to go if called on. Guessing just a day off and getting extra LH on lineup to give McDowell opportunity.

The observations, analysis and strategizing that takes place in the Beaver dugout is something to behold. You are not party to all of that when playing RF every day. A day off is a learning experience for any player.
It also allows another team member to gain game experience. Team building, if you will.
A roster deep with talent is desirable. A roster deep with game experience is Nirvana.
Boyd didn't have the day off - he was in class for 9 innings.
