Wednesday will be a study in the science of physics.
GCU is a good offensive team. Their slash line through 17 games is .286/ .381/ .434 They are averaging 6.82 runs/ game. Those numbers certainly aren't overwhelming, but could be classified as good. They have five solid .300+ hitters in their lineup. They have played a quality schedule and hold wins over San Diego (who romped over the Ducks) , Nevada-Reno, UC-Irvine and Arizona. On Tuesday night they put up 8 runs and 14 hits against the Nation's # 3 ranked team playing on the road.
My point: They are a decent test for any pitcher.
The Beavs are scheduled to throw A.J Lattery. A.J has seen short and effective relief stints this year - he's pitched 6 2/3 innings, allowed no runs on 5 hits, struck out 8 and walked 2 with 1 hit batter. His ERA is 0.00, his WHIP is 1.05, and opponets are hitting .200 against him. AJ cruises along at 89-91 with his fastball and throws a good change-up. His calling card is a + Slider. A.J. and Coach Dorman did some pitch design over the off-season. $$$$$ The Edgertronic Camera was buzzing feeding back data on the spin, velo and amount of movement.
Lattery threw for the pitching consults at Driveline Baseball in Seattle. Driveline is the test tube for pitchers including many MLB arms. The report that was tweeted, noted over 200,000 breaking balls were thrown last year in the Major Leagues. Ony 52 of those pitches had the metrics of Lattery's Slider. The combination of factors, which included - velocity, effective spin rate, horizontal break, vertical break, among several others, put AJ's pitch in the "filthy" category. Watch for it tommorow, in theory we should see a high whiff rate and no barrels on that pitch.

Exciting!
BTW, it must’ve felt good to see Carpenter pitch the last frame exactly as you said. It was a joy to watch him command! Decisive, powerful, and electric!
