I haven't eaten at a McDonald's for 25+ years. Would I miss it if they went away? Honestly, no. But these (young) Muscovites have a higher opinion of McDonald's. Muscovites say goodbye to McDonald's

Muscovites say goodbye to McDonald'sI don’t eat McDonald’s here in the US, but in Japan, the quality is much better, and they sometimes have interesting burgers. Perhaps, in Russia, the quality of McDonald’s is much better than we see here locally.

I must be a neanderthal. I probably go through the drive-thru once a week when I'm in the US.

There are two things wrong with that. It's not a filet and it's not fish.

I like to hit a Mickey D's in a foreign country to get an idea of local spin on things.
The Big Rosti* in Germany was interesting. Amsterdam seemed almost identical to the US.
Some serve beer.
* Big Rosti: Germany McDonald's in Germany has been serving up this classic for 10 years. The Big Rosti consists of a hamburger patty, white cheese sauce, bacon, and a potato rosti (which can be thought of as a patty of hash browns). It's the perfect snack to soak up all the beer you're sure to drink there.

McDonald's has a huge cultural significance across the globe. It represents freedom, democracy, all the jingoistic things associated with the US.
Even though my kids (all young adults) were raised "eating healthy" they love to hit McD's on occasion...airports, late night, etc.

If you eat out and aren't on the "greens" your not doing much better than McD's for a lot more $$. I use the McD's app and it has great deals on coffees (reg and iced), and their iced coffees are far better than say Dutch or Starbs for half the price. I'll sometimes I'll grab a "deal" as it is one of the few places that has stuff I can grab a bite that is not messy and drive to a game or the course.

A medium 2-cheeseburger meal is a staple on road trips. Hit the drive-through, hopefully back on the interstate quickly, easy to eat and drive at the same time. There's one in Burley or Jerome, Idaho, we hit almost every year.

It's Alaskan pollock straight from the Bering Sea. More like Kevin Pollak Pollock is kind of a catch-all white meat fish. You'll find it in Gorton's fish fillets and a MacDonald's fillet'o'fish. It's also used as imitation "krab" meat and is sometimes even used as itself as a substitute for cod or halibut in fish 'n' chips. They're caught using giant drag nets from ships that are essentially floating factories.
