Last Saturday night during the TV broadcast of the 6A girls tourney, KOIN Sports Reporter AJ McCord asked Graves why he was attending the tourney (dumb question, but…)? Graves answered: “Well, as the coach of the PREMIER women’s college basketball program in the state, I should be here.”

Arrogant perhaps, but true.

Arrogant perhaps, but true. And, he's a very tongue in cheek, highly sarcastic dude. Might have been more of an arrogant slam toward a dumb question?!

Arrogant perhaps, but true. Oh? In the past two years who has won the most games between the two teams? Out of the past ten years who's won the most games and the most games between the two teams? Arrogant and not true.

Arrogant perhaps, but true. Oh? In the past two years who has won the most games between the two teams? Out of the past ten years who's won the most games and the most games between the two teams? Arrogant and not true. Again arrogant or being playful? True? Depends on how you want to look at it. But, it's "trending" more true than false. Past two years: 3-2 SR vs KG overall: 11-6 (18-7) Last 5 seasons: 5-6 Graves started at Oregon in 2014 hasn't been there 10 seasons! 2014-2022: KG: 192-73 (.725) 93-49(.655) SR: 191-60 (.757) 99-37(.728) 1st 8 seasons @ each school: SR: 179-88 (.670) 90-54(.625) KG: 192-73 (.725) 93-49(.655) Last 5 seasons: SR: 101-45 (.697) 51-31(.622) KG: 132-32 (.805) 70-18(.795) But, both seem to be doing quite well. I'll still stick with it being a little jab at getting a dumb question while trying to relax and watch HS recruits.

Arrogant and not true. I guess you can pick the metrics you want. Graves comments were about today. OSU was certainly the premier program in the State 5-10 years ago. But Hole has finished better in conference than OSU each of the last 5 years. They've won 3 conference championships since OSU last won a conference championship. They were in the Final Four 3 years ago. OSU's appearance was 6 years ago. In 2020, they finished the season ranked #2, OSU #14 with no tournament played. Not much of a stretch to say they had a likely Final Four team as well in '20. This year they're in the NCAA as a 5 seed, and OSU isn't playing in the NCAA. Beav fans may bristle at Graves' comments, but you have to look at things sideways to see they're not accurate.

Funny. What should He say to a foolish question. Can Scott say it? Right now they are in the big dance and we are not. Guys can spin it . Just wait til we get ……. Only problem is Gis pride or something internal keeps Him in full control mode. Not good for us.

There are some who have a tough time reading/comprehending, or coming on here completely soused (going with an excuse vs...). And, the interpretations are typically fantasy or truly make you shake your head and go "WHAT?". It happens "again" and "again" with some. But, message boards are made up of all types and it is to be expected that bias, craziness, mood swings, quickly typed messages do not correctly convey the true message, messages are interpreted "at will", etc. The good news is that there are lots of great posters with great info and like life in general it takes some patience, and sometimes a LOT of discipline (which I at times have little) to get thru the BS.

I'll still stick with it being a little jab at getting a dumb question while trying to relax and watch HS recruits. I agree that this was probably a jab at a dumb question. I would also add that time frame is the factor here. If you're talking 10 years, you're talking Beavs. If you're talking 5 or less, then it's the Ducks. The topic here, if I understand it, is premier program, not best coach, so who the coach was/is wouldn't matter. If I'm a fan though, and I were to choose which one of them I wanted as my coach, I'd go SR. He's just more my style. Others may like Graves style. That just isn't me. And definitely don't give me Walz. I'm even surprised High School girls would want to play for him in college, but apparently many do.

I have said before some here worship the sports media and actually think the guys that cover sports are somewhat special. How many times was Scott asked about a players injury by a reporter . A post game presser question and then the following week asked the same thing again or they phrase it differently?
Or why did your team not stop Stanfords 3 point shooting? Or why did you get two technicals?
People are getting warped out of shape for nothing about what was said. Have you ever seen a football presser with the former WSU football coach “the pirate” and how he answered the question on did the rainy weather cause those last two fumbles in the fourth against Cal?
