Some follow-on with the bottom of the order in Pullman.
OSU hit 7 players in the 7-8-9 holes at WSU. Guerra, Smith, Logan, Dukart, Gretler, Dernedde and McDowell.
Those 7 players made 41 appearances and were 5-33 in official AB.
They had 4 singles and a Logan HR.
They earned 5 BB and 4 HBP.
They were 2/2 in SBA.
They came to the plate with 20 ROB and 9 in SP.
Their slash line for the 3 game series was: .151/ .307/ .273

They struggled in Pullman. And Forrester isn't getting anything to hit, He has a bushel of walks and is seeing a steady diet of breaking balls. He has a tendency to chase the sliders low and away - lay off those pitches and he's a tougher out.
Today we had 11 BB and 2 HBP - Boyd was patient and walked 4 times, Meckler and Dernedde walked twice. WSU wanted to spend the weekend pitching out of the zone. We'll see more of that and the solution of course is plate discipline.
Walk the ballpark - we're good with that.

One change in the lineup I would make....
Put Forrester in front of either Boyd or Melton....that would stop them pitching around him.
How about:
Meckler Bazzanna Boyd Forrester Melton

A bit off topic but both Gretler and Dukart need to produce. Donkey may not be getting good pitches but he is still off. When does Wheeler return? We have a really good hitting team. As everyone is saying the Pitching will make or break this team. Right now I would give this Staff a C. Just my opinion.
Tues Game still on?

You guys are talking like we haven’t been averaging about 10 runs a game. LOL
Forrester hasn’t been swinging a hot bat, but it will come. He hasn’t been striking out either. He has been seeing the ball very well and he’s been patient. The hits will follow.

Tanner Smith deserves a look at 3B. Serviceable defensively, plus arm, and better bat than any other option, currently.
Forrester hits where he does because of his patience, very mature recognition of the strike zone. Hits and long balls will come.
