What a failure by the entire bullpen, everyone. EVERYONE No reason to have lost that game except that the Cougs wanted it more. Good job Cougars. You kept plugging away, and we were dead. Hope we get some espresso before Tuesday. |

That's the definition of blowing it. Sheesh. Could've had a nice 3-0 cushion to start conference play. I don’t think when you get outhit 17-8, you blew anything. We didn’t deserve to win that one. Beavs were able to get away with it when limiting the free passes. Then Verburg plunks two, one with two strikes. Free passes were going to win it, then it lost it. |

I am afraid that won’t be ranked without a good closer. Verburg isn’t the answer after back to back Sunday losses. Need good closer to be ranked. Will have to find someone to step up as a new closer. Not Carpenter, not Verburg.

We did. We just didn't execute to get it. Last I checked, the number of hits you get doesn't win you the game. It's the runs scored. |

I don’t think when you get outhit 17-8, you blew anything. We didn’t deserve to win that one. If you have a lead with 1 out and no one on base, and don't win, you definitely blew it. We can’t expect to get double digit free passes to win a game. You could just as easily say WSU pitchers blew it in the first two innings when they gave us 5 runs on 2 hits. |

Two HBP, and they both score. Way too similar to last year; thought we were over that problem this year.
Having two midweek games kinda F's us up; our already shorthanded staff gets further handicapped by taking two arms off the table on Sunday.
Still, a PAC road sweep is VERY, VERY hard to do, and we were one out away. In fact, both of our losses have come down to the final out and have required very difficult, heroic efforts by the opposing teams.

Not Carpenter, not Verburg. Yeah, we can still be ranked. But you're right that a closer is needed and Verburg doesn't look like it. Hitting 2 batters should remove him from consideration. The thing about a closer is that they aren't always used, but when they are, they have to be perfect. It's mental. |

Beavers need that 3rd starter. Hopefully Pfennigs is the guy, but if Pfennigs can’t go, one of the young guys should get a shot.

Second straight week Verburg gets a loss. Its also his third straight outing where he got tagged for a run. His ERA is now north of 5. |
