I realize that this year's club can hit a ton and our pitching depth remains generally good. But losing two of our three starters (likely) for the year really has me concerned that what might well have been a truly memorable Beaver baseball season could, instead, turn out to be just another "ok" year......'just sayin'....

Pfennigs is fine. He’ll rest this weekend, and maybe the following, but he’ll be back. Losing Frisch sucks, but we have the arms to get through it and still be a top 10 team and Omaha contender.

I wouldn't come to the conclusion that they are both out for the year just yet.

Kmatz has been a welcome surprise. Just hope his 18/19 year old arm can last.

Until it's announced...I assume they are just dinged... Just sayin.. Pfennigs will be back. Frisch will not likely pitch this year.

To answer your question, yes. Holding your pitching staff together through the year is key, but so is having good backup pitchers ready to throw. I bet Dorman is pleased as punch to have been able to work in so many arms this year already. Give them a bit of action little by little. We may not be able to baby them along.
But we have some strong young pitchers who are coming up. While it’s normal to be concerned, I think we’ll be fine.

If we fall short, it will likely be due to pitching. But, so far, our staff looks pretty solid. The schedule is a challenging one, especially when we have tough mid week games bookended by intense weekend series...there's not much room to breath all season......it'll be a grind, but we are positioned well so far. Getting Pfennings back would be huge.

I mentioned in a different thread I was very happy with what I saw in person out of the young guns last weekend.
So, much talent.
It is fair to be concerned about how those young arms hold up to a full college season of 60+ games.
Not to diminish the roll of the veterans we are currently missing. Just very optimistic about the pitchers that are "new" to me in person. I do think the next stud or two are in that group. I have my front runners but that is all conjecture.

Obviously anything can happen, but I dont think it's a stretch to say our lineup is our biggest strength.....with two weekend rotation guys out. And Mundt, likely a big contributor, gone. Our staff could be stretched thin.....we are going to face better hitting teams coming up. Who's our Sunday guy? Townsend? Committee like last Sunday? Who starts midweek? We have some really tough midweek games ahead. I'm not betting against Dorman and our staff. I just have more confidence in our offense at this point. And to be fair, UCI hasn't exactly been lighting it up at the plate. I think they have one, maybe two regular starters hitting over .300

It’s a long season…. Beavs have navigated pretty well so far. But coming into PAC play…. Yea, I think we’re gonna miss Pfennigs…. He’s an arm. Frisch is done. For year. Not sure I wouldn’t worry a bit about when Pfennigs is available…. Back troubles are not elbows…. But they’re no joke either.
